Same

Not working for me on Windows 11 (Upgraded from Windows 10 Pro 64bit). Same error and already have Legacy Directplay activated. Is this a cut-scene issue like with Splinter Cell and un-patched versions of VTM: Bloodlines? Or is it some other weird error?

I had the same issue but could get into the game using the 'Additional Executables'->'Video Setup' option. I could start the tutorial then, so the game engine is running, but when a cutscene is supposed to play, it freezes. I think the issue is the games cutscenes for me.

Same here. Very frustrating. It can't be my Window 11. Arx Fatalis runs fine on 11. Please GOG, remake this WoT install running, for those of us anyway.

***Working for me now. Windows 11. Installed Unreal Engine DirectX 11 Renderer for WoT et-al from ModDb. Easy to follow instruction. Running at 2560 x 11440. Bit wonky though. But it works.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/unreal-directx11-renderer-for-ut-ug-rune-and-dx/downloads/directx11-renderer-for-wotrune-hp12-cbu-and-ds9tf-version-162

Oops! Runs fine through the Tutorial, then, dark silence. Can't play a Singleplayer game. Very disappointin!

Just got the game running by navigating to the install folder and clicking on the default shortcut 'Launch Wheel of Time'

Tinkered with compatibility settings a little to get it to boot up, but it seems to be running ok.

Had similar fix for 'Outlaws'. Only worked from the .exe in the install folder.

Depending if you are using Glide pr D3D run the respective cobfigurator (Nglide or D3D wrapper) and tweak things like the refresh rate or full screen/windowed or choose different a resolution Swith off any compatibility setting in the exe, it is not needed due to the wrappers.

Well, that's good to know. Regardless, nothing from the GOG launcher worked for me. Just the shortcut in the install folder. Having fun with the game now :)
I am having the same issue. I have tried all the suggested fixes and nothing seems to work
There's another thread on GOG that has some solutions which may be similar to WoT that you could try. I can't post links here but it's a thread for UT:GOTY called UT:GOTY Black screen

Namely it mentions updating two things in WoT.ini:
Setting the UseDirectSound option to False and manually updating the renderer to a different choice.

Hopefully this may help!
You will want to change one of the compatibility settings.
To do this, right click on the desktop icon for the game, and then click the compatibility tab. Once there, check the "Disable fullscreen optimizations"
Select OK

Thank you! This worked for me and now the game is playable.
This kind of worked for me, the cutscenes play on a blackscreen, alt tabing out I can see a small screen of the cutscene.
But once the video end I cannot get back to the game

edit: Restarted game, hit escape to skip the cutcscene and then was able to get in the game, will see what happens with future cutscenes
