I don't know what GPU you have. I have a GTX 760 and it goes by: right-click on desktop -> device settings -> screen -> change resolution: set refresh rate to 60.

You can also use tools such as fraps to reduce the FPS but I recommend the above.

Hmmm mine is already at 60.

I turned off vertical sync, pixel shadows, and texture filtering and that seems to have helped a little.

My monitor is defaulted @ 60hz and my graphics card is new enough to run this game. yet the game completely freezes at the same part. I've contacted support, I think I'd better just refund this.

I think it's the opposite problem. Newer machines are making it crash.

That's why I turned a bunch of my settings down. Yeah, doesn't make sense to me either, but that's what I was told. :P

It's not that your card is new enough, it's that it's too new. There are other games I've had that suffer from this, most notably the first Sacred and Commandos 1, though Commandos has been more or less fixed.

I suspected as much, I finally got past the freeze by deleting the regedit entry, re-running it and disabling EVERYTHING in the setup and running it @800x600.

Having the same issue here, Windows 7. Freezes randomly. I have tried the fixes mentioned in previous posts, with no success. I hope this gets fixed. I really love these games.

Yep having the same issue Win 7 64bit. No real consistency to it either time or location wise.

Where did you find the regedit key as after this last freeze my game won't even launch now.

Well that didn't fix it unfortunately. I've gone from having random freezes to my game just plain not launching now even after deleting the reg key and trying various settings.

Cutious do you have the widescreen fix installed as well?

I did, but after this latest clean and install I haven't bothered using it again.

Yep got it working again after removing the widescreen fix even at 1080 with settings at max, think that may be part of it.
Will report back if freezes start or happen again.

Windows 8 here

Had crashes forcing me to log out and log back in to fix,setting the display to windowed mode at least meant I was'nt having log out at every crash
