Hello guys!

I've recently bought new laptop.
Unfortunately, his config makes a lot of bugs with Settlers IV - Gold Edition.

Previously, I had Win 7 32-bit with integrated Intel graphic card and it ran perfect.
Now, I have Win 10 64-bit, integrated graphic card too, along with GeForce 920MX card.

It takes me some time to make this game playable, but with help with this forum, DXGL and some patch, it now works.

But... it makes bug with rendering objects with graphic card. When I switch from program rendering to hardware rendering, all of objects dissapear. No buildings, no settlers... Terrain hardware rendering looks OK, but with objects there are problem. It's pretty bad, because the game looks... ugly!

I've tried run Settlers both with integrated or GeForce card (I have ability to switch them) but problem is still there.

How I may fix that? Is there any patch? Any solution?

OK. But with dgVoodoo2 (I've tried this), I cannot change resolution to 16:9 aspect
Take a look at https://github.com/FireEmerald/Settlers4-Widescreen-Tool/blob/master/README.md or look at http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=79817#p79817 if you prefer to do the patch manually.

Nothing change.
dgVoodoo overwrite files and resolution, so both patch are worthless with dgVoodoo.

With nVidia/integrated card, maybe it will work, but what with hardware acceleration?
dgVoodoo2 does not overwrite anything.

From a clean Settlers IV install,
1) unpack the contents of the `MS` directory inside `dgVoodoo2_53.zip` into `C:\GOG Games\The Settlers IV GOLD\Exe` - no files should be replaced
2) use the widescreen tool to patch the in-game 1024x768 resolution to the resolution you want to play at (in my case 1920x1080)
3) when you launch the game, ensure that the resolution is set to 1024x768 (you will actually get the patched resolution) and landscape and object rendering are both set to 'hardware' ('software' works fine too, but isn't as pretty) .

I've been playing Settlers 4 this way on Windows 10 on both an NVidia desktop and an AMD dual graphics laptop using this setup for the last year or so.

If it's still not working for you, can you describe the exact steps you took and what result you are seeing?
I managed some changes & game works in my case only with dgVooDoo, but looks odd. The whole game is on fullscreen (1366x768) but game looks like squeezed. If I switch to 800x600, game looks right, but it difficult to play on that resolution.
Compare this two images I found on net
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/gTXlgAe_7Bs/maxresdefault.jpg- it looks OK, the buildings looks like "square"
and look this:
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BY3i5UCjatw/maxresdefault.jpg
in this case game look squizeed - I have the same issue.

And here are my results:
With dgVoodoo + resolution fix - play, hardware mode OK, game looks squeeze
With DXGL (Video mode: stretch, aspect: 16:9) - game looks OK, but hardware mode fail :/

My config is: Win 10 64-bit, nVidia GeForce 920MX + Intel integrated card
Use the mouse wheel to zoom in.

So? I don't get it...

You are wrong. The first picture shows a 4:3 S4 resolution stretched to 16:9, so everything looks much wider than it should. The second picture shows the correct OK state

Just ignore the hardware mode. No matter what solution you will use, it will be in fact software. dgVoodoo just makes the game think it runs in hardware mode, but it does not.
So is it possible to play in really hardware mode?

That's not entirely accurate. Take a look at section 2 (Features) in the dgVoodoo readme. If you're not convinced, ask on the dgVoodoo forums. The author ('Dege') will most likely answer.

Hi, this worked a treat for me and even got the videos working.

One thing I would say is that I sent my resolution (using the widescreen tool) to 1366x768 (even though my monitor is HD at 1920x1080. I did this because at 1920x1080 I noticed a bit of fuzzyness and slight flickering which is not good for the eyes. At 1366x768 there was no fuzzyness and there is still plenty to see :) Hope this may help some people!
