Basically I need to setup another PC instead of using a laptop since its crashing out my old laptop on a LAN about an hour ingame but no desync up to now. I'm sure the laptop is overheating.

The host is an 8core@ 4.85GHZ

The client is a quadcore@ 3.4GHZ

2 Player vs 2 Ai

3 Hours ingame and the Ai rushed us, game lost, You Lost...

what map did you play? Randomly generated? What size?

Right I would suggest following these steps.

1. Reinstall S4.

2. Copy the S4.exe and paste/rename the copy exe to something like Settlers4.exe

3. Apply the LAA parameter on the new Settlers4.exe

4. Start the game to see if the LAA works first. ( Use the new Settlers4.exe )

5. Use the Resolution mod to allow a higher HD res.

6. Hex edit the exe to allow unlimited soldiers and population.

7. Apply the Desync hex edit to the Dll.

8. Set your CPU affinity to core 0 and core 2.

9. Any map will do, tested on a random map, I didn't even save the game once.

Thx guys for further testing. Sorry that i can't respond so much
as in winter now.
Without doing tests with or without the steps John was mentioning, the last mod
has influence if the desync happens on some systems at all
but it also seems that it only changes the time when the desync might happen.
I must say that i'm still not satisfied with the solution as the aim was
to get rid of the desync completely. But for now i wont be able to do much debugging.

I had another 3 LAN battles to test further.

All 3 matches worked flawless. One match went on for over 6 hours, I didn't save once.

May I ask why you are still not satisfied with your hex edit? Have you found a bug? I don't understand.

I believe to get the Ai to build more soldiers ( Over 2000 ) A custom map would have to be created with small pockets of mountains so the Ai can expand into the resource area. It looks like on a random map, the Ai don't really expand into the mountains, its the same as Settlers 3. I had the Ai build over 4000 soldiers creating maps like this.

Its truly Epic right now. Going to create some new maps, can only dream of 2048x2048... I heard of a new Settlers 4 DLC on the forum, I do see some new assets/objects from the screenshots so I wonder if we can install The New World DLC and see if we could somehow extract the assets?

In all honesty though, that is a pretty old entry (and my English was way worse back then). I've found out an easier way to "merge" both games. Here are a few quick points about this:

-There are two Expansion Packs that were released only in Germany, the most well-known of them being The New World,
-To work around incompatibilities, neither of these Expansion Packs change the game version ( v.2.50.1516),
- v.2.50.1516 is the final version number (international, german... you name it),
-To get this to work that way, The New World and the Community Pack simply copy a few files to the game directory that enable new graphics, main menu entries, etc.
-This makes them compatible with any v.2.50.1516 installation.
-It's been a few years since I last played around with these files, but the only limitation, I think, was that you had to first install the EPs in a german installation to be able to get the files.

I still want to rewrite my"Getting the most out of Settlers IV Guide" (it's been forever since I last updated anything on it), but I have been busy these last few months (well, since late 2016, because I moved). Seeing all the new things that have been popping up lately, though, I will reconsider waiting until "things cool down" a little before I start writing!

I was going to post a comment on the thread regarding the 'Texture Swapper' as the download webpage doesn't seem to exist anymore which is a shame.

So I ordered a disc from Germany, I had to type 'siedler 4 die neue welt' so hopefully later on I can test out the theory.

In all 17 years of Settlers 4 I have never heard of this DLC. The new map assets look stunning.

You have the internet? A quick search and here I have results.

If you have a dual core CPU, you don't need to set the affinity.

Now I would suggest starting from step 1.
