It just says abnormal program termination and shuts off. Any ideas?

Top of the box says: Microsoft visual c++ runtime library

Edit: I was able to boot it up in windows 98 compatibility mode but then it just tells me to insert the CD and shuts down again after pressing cancel (can't say ok), what gives?

It's not asking for the key, but for the CD itself.

Anyway it ran that file during the installation already but I tried it, also tried copying the file to system32 and running it there. No luck.

Ok what the hell is going on with gog's servers? Page will barely load.

Tried rebooting and it didn't help.

Run the game as admin and compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. If you're using Galaxy, use the Verify / Repair function for good measure.

Yes. I tried deactivating it and now it asks me to turn it on when I launch the game (it says the config tool on the pc needs it), then it goes to the title screen and ask for the CD again when I choose skip.

No, we went back and forth for a week+ but ended up trying it on my laptop instead and that worked.

Yeah same here. Mine was working fine on a new laptop until I updated to Win 11. Now Ibcan't get Settlers 3 nor Settlers 4 to work.

Customer service hasn't been able to help either.

Anyone with this problem - please try running the game config and disable the intro video.

Ah! Figured out how to do this and it did work. Thank you!!!!!

Update: When I try to start a campaign, it seems to give error when the cut scene should be happening. Not seeing any settings in game to disable those.
