On vista:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\the longest journey\Save\

where is it in xp?

In the game's folder, under "Save", I guess...
Blah - who uses XP these days, anyway ;P ?

The old CD-ROM version saves in the game's folder, but GOG's version uses the following path in Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\The Longest Journey\Save

found it, I have an old pc at work that GOG has revived, it is an XP pro box. Thanks!

I am using windows 7 and it does not have an "appdata" under username
(\user\username\-- no sign of tlj save games.

Just for completeness' sake:
On Mac OS X the savegame folder is in "PathToYourUserFolder/.config/RedThreadGames\DreamfallChapters/Autosave/"
To open, in Finder select Go to > Go to Folder and paste:
~/.config/RedThreadGames\DreamfallChapters/Autosave/
You probably won't see the .config Folder inside your User Folder since files starting with a dot are hidden by default.

I installed In Windows 8.1 using the Admin account, then I switched to my User account to play it (still have to enter Admin password to start the game). The saves appear to be specific to my user account and are located at:
C:\GOG Games\The Longest Journey\Save.
