It's no failure of GOG, but of Red Thread Games.

If you wish to cancel pre-order, you can use GOG Support. Click on My orders, continue and there should be something like Preorde cancellation option.

Red Thread Games keeps working to deliver the game. It should be released today after the latest information but it is hard to tell.
Initially they discovered a game breaking bug after going gold and didn't want to release it on time but at the unplayable state, so they tried to fix it asap. Unfortunately, then a build wasn't uploaded correctly.

I would say they underestimated QA a bit and it will get better with chapter 2 release. They are still one of rare kickstarted developers who didn't release the game 6+ months after estimated delivery date.

Why do you say so? Would it be better for you if they'd release a broken game? It is a delay of a few hours or maybe a day - that is not that dramatic I think. Remember that they are a very small team and they are working till midnight to get this game as fast as possible to the buyers/backers. They also answer every question in their forum and the community there is very kind and helped me a lot. I think, saying that they are amateurs really is a bit harsh. But if this still is your opinion I cannot change it.
Guys the Game is now available on GOG ^.^ .
So enjoy it :D.
In the sense of terrible PR and news updates.

But it's a learning curve I guess.

I remember a number of AAA games that were unplayable on day 1-2.

Well, that part isn't true. I've been asking repeatedly over there where the interactive recap (that was promised as a stretch goal from the Kickstarter campaign and is grayed out on the main menu) has gone, as well as the promised Journeys: Birth short stories.

I'm met with silence from Red Thread every time and some volunteer mods telling me that they're sure they'll get to it.. eventually.
