Just installed Dreamfall Chapters yesterday (v.4.1.1) through GOG Galaxy (used it's installer) only to find the Visual Quality settings limited to 2 options - Low and Medium. Looks like this is intentional on the 32 bit version of the game. Pulling up Process Explorer while the game is running confirms it's running the 32 bit version of the game.

However, I'm running 64 bit Windows 7. I'm guessing the GOG Galaxy installer installed the incorrect version. Seeing as there was a problem with the original GOG 4.1.1 patch, I'm thinking this might be related as well.

I'm guessing my best option is to download the backup/manual installer instead?

Update: just downloaded/installed the web version installer/bins with the same result - 32 bit version gets installed. Same as Cattie reported below. Next would be to try the GOG Galaxy 7GB installer I suppose...perhaps there's a way to force the installer to install the 64 bit version?

Update: GOG Galaxy 7GB "Backup copy" is/are the same installer + 2 .bin files available from the website.

same problem here (win7, 64bit), not using galaxy. first i installed the new 4.1.1. version without uninstalling the old version and got the same result: ingame 32bit warning message and not selectable "high" quality setting.

so i uninstalled the game and the 32bit warning message was gone, but:
the game is still using 32bit (process explorer) and i still cant select "high" graphics quality.

no idea if its a 32bit game, but only "low" and "medium" quality setting is a bug for sure.

i unpacked the installer (german version) manually and there is only one game folder, not splitted to 32/64bit.

someone any ideas?

update: the game is 64bit only and my process explorer shows "Dreamfall Chapters.exe *32bit". crazy...

Extracting the .bin files, there's only one "Dreamfall Chapters.exe" file in it and it appears to be the 32-bit version of the game.

Can someone with a previous or 64-bit install confirm that their "Dreamfall Chapters.exe" file is 64-bit? Right-click the .exe file and select "Properties" - under the compatibility tab, for "Compatibility Mode" is the first OS listed in the drop box Windows Vista or Win 95?

I hope those developers don't get paid for this kind of crap - a game-breaking patch-patching yet also game-breaking bug development! LOL!?!

Yes, I can. (see CFF Explorer screenshot)

Bah.. Galaxy downloaded the patch and game warned once something about 32-bit and now I can't use quality settings above medium.. There isn't anything. If I recall there was high and awesome before.

What a crappy patch.

Thanks Guter. Definitely different .exe files as I've got different MD5/SHA-1 hashes and file size - same version information though. See my attached screenshot. Mine is 32-bit.

Is there a way to download the previous version? Galaxy updated it automatically :)
i would prefer a quick fix by gog and a comment whats going on there... :/

btw, can someone else confirm that the "high" graphic settings are not selectable in this 32bit version? or is it another bug? (screenshot)

update: "awesome" quality is gone for the 32bit version, but "high" should still be there....

ah, thank you, hinatatiff and MisterE.

im not mad about mistakes, happens, sometimes 2 times in a row too, but if gog would communicate their mistakes in here it would be much more easy to wait for a fix...
gog, u can do it better :)
I just went ahead and installed the 64-bit files from right before the previous faulty 4.1.1 patch. I download all the files and keep them on a storage drive, only occasionally checking for updated files/patches. Keeping all the files on hand has proved to be handy more than once.
message from the support:
"they are already working on correcting the problem. I'm sorry for the
inconvenience."

Well, glad that's soon sorted.
