Please write to our Support department about this and make sure to attach your DxDiag file to the email. Thanks :D.
please press Y or N to get rid of the white box !
it works.
According to http://www.gog.com/forum/the_longest_journey_dreamfall/massive_update/post2 the problem is still there after the 2.0 installer update.

No you don't...;) When you see the white box, simply type y for yes or n for no, and y you will quit or n you won't...;)

Frig, I didn't know this. What I was doing is lining up the mouse cursor to where the "yes" button was supposed to be, pressing Alf+F4 and then clicking. >:O

I came looking explicitly looking for a solution to this and I found it with your reply. I wish it functioned more clearly, but this beats killing it in task manager. Hope there is a fix soon, but on the bright side it's the only problem I seem to be having. Love the game, love GOG!

I think this game is as "fixed" as it's going to get, unfortunately.

This is all good and all, but there is way to fix this instead of a workaround?

Kinda find it weird that Windows 7 have no issues and yet Windows 8 has, at the heart they have the same OS core.
They don't have all the same libraries, though; DirectDraw support is a pretty notorious case in point, though I've no idea whether it's the culprit here.
