HawkDawg: .........I must say - in my personal opinion - we're not missing much by not having the newest version available here...
apart from the fact that some changes should be temporary, do you think the price for *just* a new region is justified? i don't have much experience with dlc's apart from one game, i think the prices there are reasonable (house flipper here at gog).

It's actually not a price for just one region. If you buy the DLC now, at Steam, for $19.99, you get all future updates for that price. You're actually buying the Expansion Pack, not just a per region deal.
As it says in the official forums:

"Releasing in multiple Parts over the course of a 12-month campaign, TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY includes both paid updates for those who own the Expansion Pass, and free updates for anyone who owns THE LONG DARK (or SURVIVAL EDITION). Updates are currently planned for release every 8-10 weeks."

"TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY will be priced at $19.99 USD at launch. (Your pricing might be different depending on where you are buying in the world, as we do our best to price sensitively accounting for the power of your local currency.) There will be a bundle option that lets you save a bit of money if you already own THE LONG DARK. At the midway point the price will go up by $5, to reflect that more of the content is available. At the end of the 12-month campaign, we’ll increase the price by $5 again, to $29.99. So, the best time to buy TALES FROM THE FAR TERRITORY is at launch, but if you prefer to wait until the end of the campaign to see how all the content and features turned out, you can certainly do that! We won’t be “sunsetting” or “vaulting” the content afterwards, so your purchase will be protected over the long term. "

oh, so it's more of a game pass. then I think the price is justified. however, that would mean that the updates would also have to be uploaded relatively regularly here at gog. which in turn means an increased effort for hinterland. I really hope all this will work here. I don't know why, but I've been playing TLD almost every day for years and I never get tired of it :D. Thanks for the explanation Hawk!

Well, TLD is now at V-2.06 (after the release of 2.03, 2.04 & 2.05) but it's still 2.02 here at GoG, so it's not looking good for us right now.
I guess we'll see.

I dont get it. It could not be that hard to make a decision to support the game here on gog or not. Just say *no sorry, no more support for goglers*. Company's do not work while sitting every monday discussing the same shit for months. May be its gog fault may be not. But checking every week for news really sux. sorry me saying so.

The videos I've seen and the posts on the Steam forums as well as the official forums tell me that we won't be missing anything except more bugs and a huge, boring region.

Die Videos, die ich gesehen habe, und die Beiträge in den Steam-Foren sowie in den offiziellen Foren zeigen mir, dass wir nichts außer weiteren Bugs und einer riesigen, langweiligen Region vermissen werden.

hi all,
you're right it's boring to wait and check every week if we have it on gog.
nevertheless, I think it's worth to pay it because clearly the game deserves it. we haven't paid it so much for so long playing time. so I've no problem to pay the DLC. and yes I'm waiting for it for all the announced features, not only the 1st one. and expecting, thing will be easier for modders too (update & creation).
advantage in the disavantage, the version we'll be bug free :) (and I think this game had very few bugs compared to many more games).
so well, they said March for the latest plateform so I suppose we'll have it before.
crossing fingers :)

that's the sad thing. but I find the total ignorance of hinterland worse. they currently advertise on their homepage as follows:

"We care about our worlds, our players, and our people. We believe passion for work and balance in life are not only compatible ideas, but are symbiotic."

their promises are as reliable as from a car salesman :'(
July 3, 2023 and still no updates beyond 2.02, which was September 7, 2022.
2.19 on Steam.

Ten months.

I think they left us in the dust.

Will never buy anything else from this company. And yes I also own their Steam version and bought their Forsaken DLC. This studio is low effort and arrogant. They actually have the balls to tease new game while charging DLC for the current one but not updating and finishing the game after so many years.

I agree. Hinterland's got my last dime.
