Just an FYI that the official Eng translation for ToD 2 has received backlash due to a number of translation errors and insertion of unnecessary zoomer slang and political activism that wasn't intended in the original JP release.

It probably won't impact your experience but just wanted to let others know. Just be mindful there's also a fair bit of misinformation and very passionate people attacking/defending the translation.

Yea, I just saw a Youtube video about this yesterday. Using words like "Rizz", and one cutscene where Van asks, and I quote:

"I was just wondering what pronouns to use for you."

This is what happens when western localizers go unchecked. Just replace them with AI already so customers can play the actual game it was designed to be.
Yeah, yeah, yeah - Whatever.

I hear the same thing over and over again with every Japanese game. And always from those "would-be" translators that take a single line of text and translate it using a a translator like DeepL or something. Problem is - Translators translate literally, but do not take in account the actual context and meaning behind it.

Japanese is a language that simply cannot be translated one-to-one, because everything has a floating meaning and relates heavily on context and even order of characters. You cannot simply use DeepL and say "that's the only right way", because it's not.

Using AI to translate a game is the most stupid suggestion I ever heard. Has one of you ever tried to read a macine translation of a Japanese VN? Good luck of making head and tails of even a few sentences. AI translations even mix up genders, so a girl is called "him" and a guy is called "her".

I am sick and tired of all those translation nazi's. Especially those brainless idiots that see some "wokiewokie" madness behind a few lines of text. I hate those guy's

Anyway - I don't care less about some lines here and there in thousands upon thousands of lines. In those mass of lines you can always find one or two that are not translated like you wished for (mind you I do not even say they are wrong, only that THEY think they are wrong). An then fully blow your horn because you found that one sentence in all those thousands of lines that is not to your liking. I think it's childish and shortsighted.

Ok - Rant over.

As said - I could not care less, and I already bought the game and gong to play it after I finish the previous game. And you know what? I will have a hell of a lot more fun with the game than all those translation complainers will ever have...
