Finally I get to play Last Express!! Does someone know of a way to get subtitles for the dialog? Any user created patch like the one for Gabriel Knight 2 (that one helped me a lot!)?

Whilst I can't explain why English dialogue isn't subtitled, I think it's a really nice touch that the foreign languages your character understands are subtitled but the ones he does not aren't.

So, no fan-made patch for dialogue subtitling? :(

I bought the game this sale and I was very disappointed with the lack of english subtitles.

AFAIK there's no fan patches, although the dialogue is quite easy to understand even without subtitles. If you miss something you can just rewind the game and watch the dialogue cutscene or eavesdrop the conversation again.

There are however few exceptions. Sometimes when you eavesdrop there is background noices which make listening difficult, but then again that's how it is also in the real life.

Heh. I have issues also with the "easy" dialogues, since I'm hearing impaired (and the hearing aid doesn't help too much).

The lack of subtitles is very disappointing.
Basically unplayable for me too.

Same here! I'm personally trying to listen to it, but I'm not hearing much of importance at the moment. Either it's me not hearing it, or nothing important is happening (yet) :P

I did it by myself.
Since English is not my native language, few sentences are not transcribed (in particular, at some point I have just given up to recognize speech of George Abbot) and minor mistakes are possible. If anybody wishes to help, I shall upload the dialogs (as .wav or .ogg) which were more or less problematic for me to transcribe (there are several dozens of them in total). (I'm not sure whether private messages exist on this forum, one can use my e-mail diamondaz at yandex dot ru for communication.)

I also want to say a big "thanks" to qwerty0 for that great subtitle file. Another great thing is that even until now, it is still available. I tend not to play English versions (intentionally, to help force myself to practice other languages), but still this may be a big help when I get stuck. It must have taken a fair bit of work, thank you.

By the way, are you still missing English lines (like for George Abbot as you mentioned)? If you are still around on the site here, perhaps I can help. That character has a very pronounced, difficult accent but as far as I remember, I don't think there were any lines that I couldn't catch when I played through the game many years ago (sadly enough I am very used to difficult UK accents and can understand most of them by now ;) ). But anyway it would have to be soon, if you are still here (I have been logging in occasionally lately but perhaps that may not be the case for much longer, when other real-life tasks start pressing again...)

if ur serious about properly enjoying this gem of a game (or any other for that matter) I'd avoid any subs made by my dear compatriots like plague. Obv i've never seen these particular ones, just speaking from experience.

I have got the help for transcripting missing dialogs and rechecking dialogs with transcriptions I was not sure of. (It appears that these had a non-trivial number of mistakes indeed; they should be fixed now.)
