Love the game. Or at least loved it. I apparently reached the save game limit and followed the instructions given by the official website. I deleted the oldest saves to make room for new ones. Now I cannot load any save within the game. If anybody knows how to fix this or prevent the "cannot save because too many savegames" bug (if its a bug) I`d be greatful. Impressive as the game is, I do not want to start from scratch.

Have you left at least the latest save in the save folder (agssave.050 I guess)?
If yes, what happens when you try to load it?
I left the last ten saves or so. Started a new game, when I couldnt load any save, now the remaining save-files are gone as well.
That's really strange... Did you delete additional, non-save files from the Save folder (anything other than agssave.0xx)?
Can you restore your deleted saves (backed up somewhere or still in your recycle bin)?
Now I'm just guessing... If you want, I can try to remove those helper files from my save folder and see what happens.
In the meantime you can try to contact the publisher at screen7[at]co.uk - maybe they'll be able to help you. If not, let me know if you want me to experiment on my copy and my save files :)
Where are the save games found? I want to delete a few game saves.

WinXP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\<name of game>
Win7:
C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\<name of game>\

All right, I checked it on my copy - tried to remove single saves, remove all but one or remove .999 one - and everything seems to work fine (removed saves are gone from the loading screen, remaining saves load correctly).
No idea what might've happened... Try with the support.
Oddly enough I am not finding the game saves there. I am using widows xp. When installing games I try to use the default settings. For some reason the installed games are not all in the same location. If I named a game "doctor x" I imagine it would not have that name. Two of my games have the exact same name, which I did not think would work.

What is the name of the folder that the game saves are found in? Is it called "local store"?
Ok, found it. On Windows XP it is located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Saved Games\Cat Lady

Checked on my XP machine, the patch is:
C:\Documents and Settings\<my username>\My documents\My Saved Games\Cat Lady
The files are named 1 - 6 and 999. I assume that 999 is the most recent game save played and the others were named in the order that they were created. If I were to delete the most recent one, 6, would I ignore 999? Do I always ignore 999 when removing a particular game save?
Thanks for the help, maybe it was just a glitch when it works fine with you guys. Support by the developer wouldn`t help much since the saves are gone, for some stupid reason I always immediatly empty the trash after I delete something. Guess no choice but to start over, but I will test the saves and deleting them at the beginning, so it won`t happen again.

I can`t help but wonder why it is not possible to overwrite existing saves from the save menu, couldn`t have been that hard to program, could it?

Indeed. Many times my brain almost exploded when I realized I had misspelled my save game and couldn't do anything to fix it.

They said they tried to fix it but were unable to without breaking the game :(

The publisher posted some saves on TCL's IndieDB profile. Maybe you can use those...
