Do we happen to know if this is being delivered via ScummVM or something similar?

The reason I ask: I know GoG doesn't support non-Windows operating systems, but when the games come in either a DOSbox or ScummVM wrapper, it's pretty easy for me to run 'em without Windows anyway.

If I can trivially run this under Linux or MacOS, that's a big deal to me. If I can't, I'll probably just stick with the tablet version.

Anyone know yet?

Considering the ScummVM implementation runs pretty much flawlessly (it even fixes some bugs of the original DOS version), it would only make sense to release it using ScummVM, but it's hard to know for sure until release.

Edit: ScummVM even supports the datafiles from the iOS version, so if you already have that you're good to go:

Edit 2; BTW: The only other sensible choice would be DOSBox, so you should get to play this anyway.

DotEmu's release uses ScummVM for 7th Guest and DOSBox for 11th hour.

Yes, it does use ScummV.

I run all the dos games here on my MBA using Boxer. It's a nice solution for Dosbox on OS X.

Ok, I am now officially lost.. I just downloaded the game, so my question is this:
Can I run my .exe file on my windows vista 32bit, as it is or I should have ScummVM installed?

Can someone help me?

The GOG installer (the thing you downloaded) should install everything for you automatically (including a local copy of ScummVM). After installation you start the game via the icon in your Startmenu (or Desktop),

The GOG installer froze after like 25% of download, so I downloaded the game the old fashioned way..

I guess now the question is : How can I set up my game?

Does that .exe file contain a copy of ScummVM as well, or should I try to redownload the game all over again with GOG installer?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You just need a properly downloaded installer called "setup_t7g.exe" from GOG.com. This contains EVERYTHING you need (the game itself AND ScummVM) and it will automatically set everything up for you if you just execute it and follow the instructions.

However, it will not work properly if there was an error while downloading (which can happen with large files). So if you have trouble downloading it properly, install the GOG downloader tool that you can download from here:

The GOG downloader tool does error checking while downloading and thus makes it certain that you can receive an error-free installer.

According to http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_7th_Guest the ScummVM used by gog.com is an older version. Any plans to update it?

I'm considering buying it after I heard that it's much better than Alan Wake.
