I've looked around for a solution, but none of them seem to work. I've tried every graphic option with the tool, to no avail. This is the only game I've gotten from GOG that I have this issue with.
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
both run using DOSBox.
Could you try running DOSBox normally works ?
(e,g installing it from http://www.dosbox.com )
You should be greeted by a welcome message and some command line like prompt
Tried it to no avail either. I just get loading errors.
so DOSBox doesn't work on your system ?
That is bad luck. You are sure your graphics drivers and such are up to date ?
You miss understood me, allow me to rephrase:
Dosbox itself works fine, and up to this point, every game obtained from this site, including those reliant on it, have worked without a hitch.
For some reason, however, these two Tex Murphy titles don't want to run. I've tried using the graphics setting tools shipped with the games, as many suggested could be the issue, to no avail, as well as when trying to launch either game using dosbox directly, they still simply load then crash.
And yes, all my drivers are up to date.
ah yes.
Try this
Install the game at different location. (not under c:\program files)
and try again. That might solve the problem for Martian memorandum
Negative captain. Didn't work.
This is ... very odd. Please be more specific though. "They load, then crash" is pretty vague.
How far does it load? What crashes? The game or DOSBox? Also, if you keep DOSBox in a window, you'll see a second console window - try to see what it says before it crashes. Also, do note that DOSBox automatically closes with GOG games if you exit so if the game isn't correctly loaded, DOSBox will close which is not the same as crashing.
Best thing is to manually run the game in DOSBox without using the GOG installer - that way you can be sure.

Right click on the shortcut and run them as Adminstrator.
Like I said, the game starts to boot up, and fails. Not even getting to any game screen. Also, like I already stated I've tried running it directly from DOSbox, with no success.
And Lou, don't insult my intelligence. Obviously I tried that.

Don't bash on folks for trying to help you. There is no 'obviously' about trying that solution, as you didnt state you tried it did you? Lou was trying to be helpful and you bash him for 'insulting' your intelligence?
You aren't really giving people a reason to try and help you fix this.
That all said - have you tried manually modifying the Dosbox.conf file for the games? You said in one of your posts that it gives an error - what error, exactly, is it displaying?
I finally got it fixed. Problem solved.
