I am currently playing my downloaded copy of UAKM and all was going swimmingly until I had put all the information on the pawn shop burglar into the Crime Link computer. I find the guilty party Ok and read that it's Mick Flemm and about his connection to Beek Nariz, but unfortunately the game does not update these names into my ask about file - or anly adds one and not the other.
This stymies me when I try to open the door of the ACME Warehouse.
Any suggestions for getting around this problem?

sounds like there might be some things you haven't done or people you haven't spoken to.
have you spoken to beek, have you asked chelsea about beek. if beek doesn't give you any info you have to offer him a discount flyer.

The problem is that when I add all the info on the burglar into the Crimelink computer and read the stuff about Mick Flemm & Beek, the ask about list only adds one of these names, not both. It could be Beek or Flemm - never both.
I've started the game over several times, but still get the same outcome and make sure each time I talk to all the relevant people and collect all the stuff you have to collect.
I am not a novice with UAKM. I played it when it first came out in 1994 and also about 7 years ago.
The problem could be caused by my computer which has a Core 2 Quad processor, running XP.
If I could be bothered I could try it out on my Pentium 4 computer, but that is lots of hassle.

if you got that far you now need to find beek.
to find beek you have to talk to chelsea again & she will tell he (coit tower) & you need to give him the surgery cert as a trade for info.
just did a quick play of the game, after the computer when you talk to chelsea mick flemm appears in the list & more appears under mick's name. use the arrow key to go to the next page & you will see beek's name. Ask chelsea about beek.

I just feel you have not done something, have you got the batteries in your inventory, spoken to mack malden & got the blood type. Did you get the answers in the crime computer by guessing or did you find them out by talking to people first.
just trying to find your problem. the computer told you mick flemm was the only match after you entered the answers. It's not your pc as I use core 2 duo also.
I know you said you played this game before but what I have found over the years at tex murphy forum at the support section is sometimes people play the game from memory & forget to do the basics, like examination of objects . We are all victims of it as we have been playing the games over & over again due to the lack of good games.
just to see if you didn't miss talking to someone, chelsea twice, mac malden, found 2 articles behind rook's shop, the bum in the alley.

Our posts must have crossed. It's solved! After reinstalling the game with antivirus software turned off it worked and all is running as expected. I have now played up to getting into the warehouse without a hitch.
It definitely wasn't working before.

glad of that. was just about to give you a link for game files, anyway here it is incase you get stuck anywhere else. Has a lot good info also & puzzle solutions & also radio theatre where you can here what happens to tex after overseer ended. not finished only about 6 epsiodes.
