Do you want to play a Special Edition of Tesla Effect? A Director’s Cut Edition? A Deluxe Edition? A Premium Edition? A Game of the Year Edition? How much would you pay?

Tesla Effect is a huge game, but a ton of cinematic scenes were cut from the game. How much? Currently, the cut-scenes take up about 13.5 GB of space. I remember hearing in an interview last summer that about 10 GB of video content was cut from the game! It’s also been said that there’s 5.5 hours of video in the game, so another 10 GB could be another 244 minutes, or 4 extra hours of interactive, exciting, story content!

Did you watch the recent Tesla Effect Special Developer's Commentary Let’s Play?

Many that have read the wonderful novelization of the game, Tex Murphy & The Tesla Effect, have agreed that reading the novel gives them a much bigger and better understanding of the story when compared to what is presented in the game. This could be due to a lot of the FMV being cut. I do know that there’s a ton of Chelsee Bando content that hit the cutting room floor. :-(

Possible* Features for a Special Edition:

- Tons of more FMV story content, including interactive conversation scenes
- Commentary by Chris Jones and other developers throughout the whole game
- More voice-overs from Tex Murphy when looking at objects in the environments
- Walk-able versions of the 3D environments used exclusively for FMV scenes (but with no clipping or interactivity)
- The Tesla Effect Official Soundtrack
- The Live Jazz Soundtrack
- The Making of Tesla Effect Documentary
- New Radio Theater Episodes
- Tex Murphy & the Case of the Nitro Stalker (Comic Book)
- An E-Book of the novelization, Tex Murphy & The Tesla Effect
- Concept Art
- Hundreds of Behind the Scenes Photos and video clips taken during the filming
- More Puzzles
- Upgraded Textures
- A Fedora Hat for Team Fortress 2
- Achievements & GOG Galaxy Integration

*The possibility of any of these features, as well as the possibility of a Special Edition in general, depends on what kind of response this question gets. None of these features have been announced or promised by BFG... I’m just speculating, to see what kind of interest this gets. The possible features are in line with what is usually included as bonus features in special editions of other games. Steve at BFG has made a post to the Mutant League Blog on the BFG website, so you can also leave a comment there.

If there was a such thing, I would prefer it as a free update. However I could be willing to cough up 5-10€ to update my current version with the "Director's Cut DLC", if it offered enough new stuff. I wouldn't be willing to pay the full price for the game, because I already did that last year.

However I don't know if I really want such thing. While I enjoy Tex -games, sometimes less is more and adding new stuff might just make the game's narrative convoluted. I believe that a lot of stuff was cut out, because it wasn't really necessary for the story and they wanted to streamline the game to make it easier to approach. While I appreciate the fact that game is huge and complex, I don't know if making it longer would improve it. It could, but there's also the possibility that it would just make the game bloated.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that, I'm only interested about new in-game content. While some people like all kinds of bonus material, I think it's unnecessary. I don't do anything with soundtracks, concept art or development videos.

I would definitely be interested if there was significant new game content. That can include new FMV cut-scenes and/or new areas to explore. But like the person above me, I'd only be interested if there was a decent chunk of new in-game material.

I think I would rather see a bloopers dvd of the cut scenes

In the kickstarter updates for the Tesla Effect project, Big Finish Games decided there would not be any DLC for this game. Since my rep is not high enough (although I've been with GoG since it's inception) I cannot post any links, but you can find it back if you search for the first update on the Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter Project page...

I understand they do not want to upset the backers who supported the project from the start by offering extra content later on.

its not extra content for certain backers its a special edition of more video scenes they cut out & extra stuff available to all backers.
Being a sucker for Tex Murphy who really enjoyed Tesla Effect - despite its occasional flaws - then yes. I would very much be interested in buying something like this.

Absolutely of course.
Count me in !!!!
Count me in. It's a great game. I want more of it!
If it came in the form of an upgrade (call it dlc / whatever you wish), I definitely am interested. Hopefully the price will reflect the amount of content included.
I'm in, name your price :D
