As the question says. Please elaborate. On the gamecard it still says "April 22, 2014" under "Release date", but it also says "This game will be available for download on approximately May 7".

It has been confirmed by Big Finish that they want to take some extra time for some polish and "suprises". I'm sure it wont hurt to have a few extra weeks. No big thing. They are now shooting for May 7th.

I'm guessing two possibilities:
1. "Green Screen" video problems. Maybe they want to make the game playable on weaker GPUs? Currently, minimum system requirements still say NVidia GeForce 200 series or better.
2. Something else. In this case, I will need to buy a better GPU, because there was a Green Screen in the demo on my PC with GeForce 7950 GT.

no the green screen problem is to do with drivers & direct x the problem will still be there when the game is released. Big finish just want to be best game possible as they need extra time to make some changes. An update video will come soon

I think it cannot be DirectX case on my PC, because version 9.0c is installed. The newest NVidia drivers for my 7950 GT are 307.83. If that's not enough, then I'll need a new GeForce, because newer drivers for 7xxx series are not available.

I also have the green screen problem. From what I've read on the various forums I think it's because I am using a Toshiba laptop that used a custom Intel driver. I can only update the drivers through Toshiba's website (not Intel like you normally would). So until Toshiba issues a new driver to catch with Intel's latest drivers I may be out of luck.

And I think it's a pretty cruel that it's a green screen. They shot the actors on a green screen and now we get to see the green screen with the actors removed ;)
Hey all, Big Finish made a quick announcement on their Facebook regarding the postponing, here is the full text (original post here):
Let’s face it, you’ve waited 16 years, what’s 16 more days?

Some of you may have already cottoned on to the fact that in some places the release date for Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy adventure has been moved to May 7th. We can confirm this information is correct.

The reason for this is simple: we want to make sure that when it comes time to releasing Tesla Effect we are going to present you with the most polished, perfected and purely awesome adventure gaming experience! The team here at Big Finish Games is burning the midnight oil, working extra hard to help make this game a shining example of adventure gaming at its finest, and we feel it would be an injustice for our backers and fans to release a product before we feel it is ultimately ready.

Within the next few days we will be releasing a new update video with details of the above, as well as a few surprises. Once again, we apologize for the delay but we promise that with this little bit of extra time we will be able to deliver the best Tex Murphy adventure yet!
Also regarding the green screen thing:
Paul Craig: Is this to deal with that green screen bug some have had during the play of the demo?

Mat Van Rhoon No Paul, the delay is simply to ensure we give ourselves the little bit of essential extra time to really make sure we deliver a well rounded and complete game. We are aware of that issue, but it was not the reason for delay. We have identified that in almost 100% of the cases it was outdated video drivers that were causing the problems. And from those left who were unable to resolve; they either refused to download new drivers, or their OEM manufacturers refuse to allow new drivers to be installed until they are certified by the PC manufacturer, which in many cases is a frustratingly long and drawn out process. We can only do so much to circumvent this, and we are trying our best.

Paul Craig: Ok. Always nice to have developers take the time to add some polish before releases.
I'm all for the delay in the interest of a better game. Will also give me extra time to upgrade my PC so I can play it...

I have a notebook toshiba & also all in one & I was able to install the intel driver which was a later update than toshiba had on line. My surface pro 2 was the only pc that had only onboard graphics which I did get the green screen but once directx 9.0c was installed it was okay. So the green screen isn't always a graphics driver problem.
Plumgas. I think the comment was assuming that the DirectX 9 prerequisite was already installed at that point. But yes if you have not done that first, it is indeed an essential first step.
It seems that almost every adventure game is postponed these days. Well, at least this game wasn't split into two parts.

And I need this game today ;)
But that gives us time to replay Overseer so we can value the conclusion of his damn cliffhanger we've been waiting for the last 16 years! I absolutely LOVED the demo and I am sure I will love tho whole game as well. Counting the days ... and hours ... and minutes .... and seconds :)
