UAKM had sort of mock characters pandora a had the FMV . for example UAKM had tex walking and pandora had the video scenes. I never play UAKM but I do play pandora & overseer.

How does Overseer compare to Pandora?

To be honest, it has been a very long time since I played Pandora - I've replayed UAKM a few times and have constantly been hung up in the GRS area (damn robot!).

That being said, I do remember enjoying Pandora and buying the hint guide that helped me see where the three different story paths take place (a big deal back then, and frankly now for game re playability).

The video is also higher quality since technology improved, and you also benefit from a professional director - but alas this does make the other places where the devs didn't have as much money to spend show up more (like the make up effects as you pointed out).

The acting really didn't bother me, frankly I was used to other games where it was worse and I was invested enough in these characters to look past it.

In the end, the story kept me engaged and I was getting more of what I loved in UAKM to overlook any issues that would have otherwise taken me out of the experience. Personally I enjoyed UAKM more, but part of that was it was my first foray into this most excellent series of adventure games.

Hope you stick with it! I'm sorry to say that I never finished Overseer due to the game ending crash bug at Alcatraz. The experience to there was excellent, and I was really enjoying the upgrade to DVD quality video (though it took me forever to get the game to run on my machine). I'm really looking forward to the Poisoned Pawn remake so I can finally play through and finish it.

I'm going to stick with Pandora for a while, anyway.. not as if I have anything better to do ATM, lol.

The games are light breezy fun that triggers a lot of nostalgia for the 90s. Any idea when this remake project will finally be released?

Overseer is good if you can get it going on your pc, needs a bit of tweaking. it runs on windows & not dos box. It has FMV also but the video is Mpeg2. A lot of the scenes have a lot of video....michael York scenes are long but he was such a classic. One good thing is you can enter to skip the video scenes if you want.

we don't know when the remake will be finished could be at the end of the year or may be next year.

Pandora has a lot of paths to follow as well, and multiple endings. For me this game (Pandora) is about the story. Keep going it is interesting to say the least. Also Kevin McCarthy, was one of the best actors ever and that for me was a huge selling point.

Easy. Pandora is a more polished product, has a few serious actors in it, and has a better balance between comedy and horror. The sense of mystery is greater too. UaKM was too goofy and hammy for its own good, particularly in the beginning parts. The only part of PD that needs heavy editing would be the temple at the end. Too long and confusing.

I find them all to be rather over-rated. I was bored by Overseer and stopped, but will probably pick it up again in the future.

IMO, GK2 is far superior, and if you haven't played those games, I highly recommend them all. To me the 2 Tex games (UaKM and Pandor) are 2.5-3 star games, GK2 is 4+. (GK1 is 3, GK3 is again 4 but maybe not QUITE as excellent as GK2? Hard to say though!)

Another great FMV game from the 90s is Noctropolis - one of my favorites for its dark + hokey + story + atmosphere + world.
