I just finished Killing Moon and found it to be a nostalgic trip back to the 90s.
I came away impressed, and wondered why I never played it when it came out.
Sure it is a weird & wacky game full of uneven bits and pieces, some bad acting.. but such was to be expected of FMV games from that era. The game struck a good balance between the pluses and minuses.
Now, supposedly Pandora Directive is better than UaKM? How is it possible? From reading the opinions of Tex Murphy fans around the net, this seems to be the consensus. A lot of fans mentioned they were "more drawn into the game," the characters were "better," etc.
Well I'm on Day 3 and there are SO many things this game does worse than its predecessor. The acting went from "so bad its funny" to "so bad, it's JUST bad." Watching the vegetarian crazy preacher is a painful experience, as just one example. And the game is just needlessly distasteful... why would they turn the volume up on that?
The cosmetics are worse (or the FMV got sharper, so I can see the crappy production value.) Gus Leach's nose is a complete eye-sore (why? just why?)... you can see the putty on Louie's face.
Why is this game the best in the series, again? All the above problems RUIN immersion for me, I don't see how anyone could gloss over it. UaKM had quality control, at least!
