Hey guys,

I'm trying to play Overseer on W8, but am experiencing graphical glitches where entire portions of the game (such as file cabinets, drawers, desks, and even walls) are disappearing and flickering.

I have already tried running the game off my integrated Intel gpu.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

Here are my computer's specs:

W8
i7
GTX 770M

Thanks!

I get the same with my nvidia driver, only solution was to swap to onboard graphics

oh sorry missed that, other than try another driver. my 2 win 8 pc don't have this problem but I do get it on my win 7.
I will have a look at the win 8 driver I am using & post back later tonight (au time)

I tested my laptop & found nvidia driver 3788 works with overseer on win 8 & yet the same driver on win 7 experiences quivering graphics. On my surface I have transparent & graphics like you have yet it did work before a previous intel update.

as we have found before some win 8 work & others don't. I setup overseer in the manage 3d settings in the nvidia control panel so the game will run on the right graphics card. I assume you did this so when you tested it as win 7 & win 8 default to the on board graphics card on games for some reason.
Thank you for the help plumgas. I ended up installing the game on my girlfriend's laptop, which is running W8.1 and the latest NVidia drivers. So far, the game has been running well on her machine.
any ideas? i started the game yesterday and this issue is really bugging me :(

New graphics cards (or drivers, or both) turn the black color to transparent, causing this issue.

I have not yet found a workaround :(

Just got the new computer, Win 8.1 GTX 980M, and now I'm having the same issue with transparencies, particularly alarming in the Anasazi Ruin (can't see half of what is going on). Switching to the integrated graphics card unfortunately did not help.

Wish I beat this back on my Windows 7 computer, frustrating as all get out.

I have spoken about this issue to big finish games , so far I have found nvidea driver 347.09 which is the latest works under win 8.1 but the same driver under win 7 does not & both pc have the same graphics card.
intel driver 10.18.10.3345 does not work but 9.17.10.2828 works
windows update will install a newer driver so tell windows update to notify you but not to install.

I am pretty well stuffed on my win 7 desktop as it has gtx9700 video card & there are no early drivers.

Big finish told me they had special software that they purchased for the program to run on as far as the textures go so overseer is technically reached its end of life with the newer driver

Just wanted to say thanks for all your helpful posts relating to the Tex Murphy games - they are much appreciated!

To echo the person above me, thank you! Also trying to see if I can get through the puzzle portions with midi enabled without crashing, probably another thread somewhere I just need to go look for!

the midi issue has been fixed now by selecting midi mapper under audio in the overseer control panel

I have the same problem.
The big question is: Is the game completable with this bug? I can live with some glitches, but if I'm not able to finish it, I'm not sure if I bother playing at all.

no you really won't enjoy it with this happening, if your driver is causing these problems you have only 2 options,

this problem can be on win 8 or win 7 & is graphic driver problem, at first I thought it was the never nvidia drivers but I have found this is incorrect. it can happen on onboard graphics & also graphic cards. I have 2 pc with identical graphic cards & using the same latest driver I found one works & the other doesn't.

the only option is play on another pc or change the graphic driver. if you have graphic card & also onboard on your system, setup overseer.exe under manage 3d settings in the nvidia control panel try both cards this way & if both drivers work this way try another pc.
