Hello everybody,
I searched the Tex Murphy section, but found no solution for my specific problem.
I installed Overseer on my PC (Win7 64bit). All started well, seemed to be ok, music, when suddenly during the intro the sound disappeared. About the time, when the name of actor Henry Darrow is on the screen. Silent movie with undertitles until the end of the intro video.
During the gameplay part everything ist ok. Searching the office while Tex talks and explains from the off.
Next video starts, Sylvia Linskys appearance, sound present, they talk two lines dialogue, then silence again, sound disappeared.
Does anybody know about that problem?

I have to admit I clicked away forever the message about ffdshow because I had not and needed not that codecpack before. Even after a reinstallation of Overseer the messagebox did not come back. I Installed ffdshow, but it didn't help.

Anyway, it's a bit crazy that there's not the problem of no sound or no video, that some other people have. But a disappearing sound after 30 seconds in every video sequence?

Has anybody some kind of advice?

Thanks in advance
Bas

you were to run ffdshow as gog has put it in the installer, install the new version of ffdshow sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/

Thanks for your answer, but I installed the newest version of ffdshow already, it didn't help. Maybe the reason is, that I didn't get back the messagebox at the start of Overseer (even after reinstallation), where I could mark, that Overseer uses ffdshow.
As I wrote before, at the first gamestart I marked in that messagebox NOT to use ffdshow (when I remember right). How i can get that messagebox back? Any help appreciated.

Problem solved. After I changed the MPEG-device to standard in the video options, it works. So I'm looking forward to get my Murphy-knowledge up to date before release of the Tesla Effect. ;-)

if you changed it standard you are not using the decoder, it should show zing decoder

I checked my system last night & yes it does run on the default, could because the guy that did this patch stated he changed it to run on other decoders. When you downloaded ffdshow did you go into the config file & add ticks to dvd decoder. there is also a section there that tells ffdshow not to ask to use the decoder so you won't get the message again.
