I somehow managed to go through playing a number of the old adventure games but I'd never even heard of Tex Murphy until I came to this site.

I've just finished playing Mean streets and I absolutely loved it! I really felt like a private investigator as a chased down leads, took notes, ran into dead ends and slowly but surely compiled an enormous list of contacts and revealed the plot.

I also determined to finish without one single look at a walkthrough! Something I will now do wilth all adventure games I play no matter how stuck I get. (My advice, MOVE and OPEN everything!)

Everyone says the later games are far better so I'm really excited now to sink my teeth into them.

Glad you liked MS, I never played through it or MM - but LOVED the last three and think you will too.
Hey, I'm trying to play the GoG version, but I'm having trouble with the colors. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Tried running it in 256 colors but nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Strange. I have Win7-64bit too, but everything normal with colors. Are you sure you chose first line (with maximum range of colors)?
I also loved mean streets for similar reasons. (TexI Murphy 1& 2 was my first gog purchase) I have to warn you that Martian Memorandum is pretty awful. Not at all like Mean Streets.

The others are pretty good too, although I miss the flight simulator and am not a fan of a lot of the humor in the games.

Win7/64-bit here, and I have graphic/color problems, too. The problems occur during some of the interviews, usually. But most of the problems go away when I play it windowed (I hit Alt-Enter when it starts).

I hope there's a better fix, but I'm not good with graphics modes and things.
