What a HUGE let down. I cannot believe how rushed the story was near the end. The puzzles were all so easy too. Not one had me stumped like the previous games. Severly disappointed with the ending. The story just wasn't exciting nor grand as it was lead to believe. Game was really short. Took me about 17 hours. Literally as long as the first two Tex games. Here I thought the game was gonna be massive. Nope.

And that awful ending... wtf... I just wasn't expecting it to be so short. IGN was being really generous with their score. I was doubting them at first but wow they hit it. Worst of all is the chracter development. I just felt no connection whatsoever with any of the new characters. This game was really flat. If they make another game, they need to make the puzzles much harder and the story more enticing. I hate to see this be the last Tex game because it deserves much better. I hope the next installment fairs better. As it stands, this might be the worst Tex game in the series./endrant

Thus I rank them as this:
TPD>UAKM>O>MS>MM>TE

AND DID I MENTION SMART ALEX? What a useless side kick in any game. EVER! It does NOTHING to help you during your adventure. NOTHING! Where the hell did he come into the equation? I dispise his voice! >__<

I'm sorry you feel this way, I personally think this game is way better than Overseer (and definitely better than the old 2D ones) and even slightly better than UAKM.

I assume you are aware that it was made on a Kickstarter budget of less than a million dollars (cheapest FMV Tex Murphy game ever)? My expectations were MUCH lower than 17 hours of gameplay (I thought it would be 5).
I also don't know which ending you got, but judging from your disappointment I would guess it was 'The Petrified Forest' one. If you replay the game and ensure you are on the Chelsee path ('Somewhere I'll Find You') I can assure you that you will feel much more satisfied.

Also, the 'rushed' feeling may be due to the fact that they had to cut on some movie content to lower the total game size (in a recent interview Mat said that the original game size was 26GB and was deemed too large), as such some control was taken from the player which is why Tex goes to some locations on his own.

Smart Alex does tell you what to do on occasion and seems to be more of a MT3K tribute, I too was not too fond of him (but it didn't detract too much from my gameplay)

I took the Chelsee path am sure that was the best ending. It felt so rushed and cheap towards the end. I was really expecting a cool ending after that nice intro when the game starts. I am aware this was a Kickstarter project and they just promised a lot and it just failed to deliver imho. I had way more fun playing MS/MM for the first time a couple years ago. Difficulty is really uneven. The last puzzle was so easy it was a joke. I thought, that's it? That was the last puzzle? Good grief did it leave a sour taste in my mouth. I was expecting much more than that. And God... Chelsee has aged rather too fast for 7 years. This whole 7 years missing should have been 15 to make more sense seeing how the actors have really aged.

Can you post the link to the interview? I didn't know that information, and in hindsight - perhaps we can expect a 'director's cut' sometime in the future... ;)
Why would you expect it to be any longer than the other Tex games? 17 hours seems above average for a graphic adventure imo.
I think the gap between the 15gb game and the 26gb version, is just due to the video compression.

Because they stated it was two Tex games in one in terms of length. It wasn't for me. The whole game felt like I had my hand held all the way through with such easy puzzles. Believe it or not Overseer took me almost twice as long because I was stumped on quite a few puzzles. And The Pandora Directive took me close to 70 hours because some puzzles had me stumped for days. And. before anyone asks me how do I know how much time I spent, I jot it down what time I start and stop playing every time I play any P&C Adventure game. Yeah it is silly but I like to see how much game time I get just because am weird.

no not really there was a lot of video that was cut . there were scenes that also appeared in the trailers that didn't go ahead.

Wow, really? Any chance the content cut-out will ever become available? I'd definitely buy that!

It's not just video, it's some gameplay as well, as I am translating the subtitles to Hebrew I am seeing a LOT of subtitles to scenes that don't exist (and that is just the tip of the iceberg, the subtitle file is HUGE), among them (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT):

1) The VCT Sofware is not given to you by Lt. Danwicz , you need to search for a 'pirated' version (yeah, I can see why they removed that one ;) )
2) More dialogue and choices with your first meeting with Taylor (including mentioning your Smart Alex device and wondering what that is exactly)
3) A major decision regarding Ault - which in turn yields you a different ending with Chelsee (you can see snippets of this one in the trailers)
4) Visiting St. Germaine is not automatic, you need to go to Holly and for her to ring you in

And all this is from reading about 3% of the subtitles file and piecing things together (I'm sure there is so much more in that file that I simply did not reach yet).

I'm very saddened to see this cut content, I understand this was necessary to reduce the file size and that the major plot was not harmed, but it could have been much closer to Pandora if they could keep it all.

I'm still hoping some 'Director's Cut DLC' will be released at some point with all the cut content included (even if just to please the fans, I'll shell the extra $$$ and it does not have to be canon, but just to exist, file size be damned, if AAA titles can be 30GB, so can this!)

Now I REALLY want this extra material! Who do we have to petition to get it released???

We can only beg BFG for this :) (I find it unlikely they will release such a 'Special Edition' as they are a very small team, at most maybe some cut clips will be released, but one can always hope)

That would be unfortunate. I'd be more than willing to shell out more $ for an extended version.

I'm pretty sure most of the fanbase would be understanding and more than happy to shell out some more $$$ for a Director's Cut - Humongous Edition :)

(SPOILER) If you are interested to read about the other Chelsee Ending in the 'To Have And Have Not' path I posted it here:

Edit: Do note that it is understandable why it was cut (it doesn't make much sense in the context, but damn I still want to play it :) )
