I installed this game to Windows 8.1 computer. Game works otherwise fine, but cinematics aren't showing properly. First I didn't get FMV sequences at all, but instead there was an error message. After I installed new version of FFDSHOW I got green video which is divided to multiple screens. Two big ones and many small ones. Different compatibility modes don't change anything.

I think it might be codec related, but I'm not really that familiar with codecs and I will appreciate any advice people can give.

I've been testing with the different versions of Ffdshow. It seems that the older versions don't work at all and I get same MPEG2 driver error as I got before I installed the new version. Now if I only figured out how I could get the new version to show the videos without the green color.

I even tried if changing decoder for MPEG-2 would make the difference (There's couple of different alternatives in Ffdshow), but it didn't seem to make any effect. I also tried changing decoder settings, but that didn't seem to have any effect either.

I've got AMD Radeon R7 240 and according to Catalyst Contor Center my drivers are up to date. And I'm using the standard configurations.

EDIT: And I've got DirectX 9.0c installed.

overseer only runs on the decoders that are listed in the control panel, just use zing decoder. not sure about your card. but are you using only 1 card as overseer will not run with dual card setup. now most people with a dedicated graphics card also have a onboard graphics & with games on win 7 & win 8 windows uses the onboard by default. Not sure if catalyst control center you can set which card to use. if you have the 2 cards you can set overseer.exe to run on your graphics card.

Thanks for the suggestions. However none of those were the problem. I managed to figure it out myself. It seems that there was a conflicting program. I started uninstalling multimedia software from my computer one by one and it seems that it was CyberLink's PowerDirector (video editing software) which caused the issues. After I uninstalled it Overseer's videos started to look normal. I should have figured that out earlier, but for some reason I didn't even think that possibility till now.

Thanks for the feedback! PowerDirector installs its own MPEG-2 codec which probably caused the problem.

yes thats why I mentioned previously about install different codec as that would cause problems with overseer

Ah, sorry. I didn't connect the dots. I thought that you just meant that I shouldn't download any codec packs.

To be honest I didn't even know that the PowerDirector had installed some codecs. Actually I didn't even install it, because it was pre-installed bloatware, which you get when you don't have enough time* to build your own computer and you buy factory made computer instead. Removing all of those useless programs seems to be the best course of action, because those seem to cause nothing but trouble.

*Old computer went kaputt and I had deadlines to keep.
