I am a backer for this game, and none of the backers except the beta backers have received a GOG code. Many are upset about this and feel lied to since many in that community don't like Steam. Big Finish isn't clarifying for us just that they didn't add extra DRM to the game on Steam.

This is an ongoing problem and the company has failed to release a statement, a employee even locked a thread about how to install steam because people were asking him to explain.
GOG does not require a code. You just download it and install. If it's not showing in your games list, follow the poste4d links to do an account refresh and it will show up.

He means the GOG key to add the game to his account. He was a Kickstarter backer, and they sent out Steam keys instead of GOG keys.

I don't know why we need like 10 different thread discussions on this.

From what I have read all they promised was a DRM free version, which they have provided.

No, they didn't. Steam itself is a DRM, and to download new Tex, I have to accept Valve's TOS, that states that i'm only "buying" a _subscription_ to this game. That's not DRM free, and in my past experience with KS everybody understood that (Battle Worlds: Kronos, Wastland 2 (I've got W1 gog key from it), Shadowrun Returns, Banner Saga or Broken Age).
The game *is* on GOG, so the developer did what it had promised by offering a GOG version.

I'm a backer too, and my understanding is that GOG codes were not offered to backers due to a last-minute mishap that was beyond the developer's control.

Most people have no problem with Steam. Steam has been available for almost 10 years. I was wary of the hazards of digital downloads at first, but are now buying most of my games there.

Those who have been rejecting Steam for this long are naturally the most hard-line people with the most vehement dislike of Steam. Some of them reflect poorly on themselves by saying paranoiac things like "Steam is spyware", "you don't really own the game", "Steam makes you agree to an EULA" (LOL), etc.

We hope the less-hardline Steam holdouts will eventually be open-minded enough to give Steam a try - and they will, and further isolate those paranoiac anti-Steamers.

As is the case with everything in life, when you back yourself to a corner with views that few people agree with and add paranoiac ranting on top of that, things are not going to be in your favor most of the times.

However, the good news is by Thursday we received GOG codes. We are currently sending out emails with GOG codes to members of the Mutant League. It will be about 24 hours before all the emails have been sent out, so remember to check your inbox (and your spambox!)

I'm glad, that now they did :>

Xuio: Steam itself is a DRM,
Nope.
Gog codes have now been distributed to all eligible backers. Please read this update from Kickstarter for details:

Greetings Mutant League!

TEX IS BACK! For two days now, can you believe it? By now, you should have received your Steam code for Tesla Effect.

There has been a lot of hubbub about the GOG codes, so let’s clear that up.

We had requested GOG codes for our Kickstarter backers early on. However, by the night the game was supposed to launch, we had not received them yet. It was a choice of whether we wanted to make the backers wait for the GOG codes, or simply send everyone a Steam code to access “Tesla Effect.” Since we wanted you guys to be able to play the game the first day it came out, we opted to send everyone the Steam code. However, the good news is by Thursday we received GOG codes. We are currently sending out emails with GOG codes to members of the Mutant League. It will be about 24 hours before all the emails have been sent out, so remember to check your inbox (and your spambox!)

People who are at the Beta Level Testing and above tier already have the game on GOG so will not be receiving new codes. The Beta on GOG can be updated to the full edition of the game. For instructions on how to "refresh your shelf" on GOG, please visit: https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh

We respectfully ask that you don’t share the codes with people, and continue to enjoy "Tesla Effect." Have a great weekend!
