Hi,

I just bought this game during the summer sale and I can't get it to work. It simply does not work. Regardless of what I do: click on the icon through the application menu or run ./start.sh, the screen flickers for a second and then goes back to my desktop.

If someone can help me out, I"d appreciate it. Thanks

Hi somegamingdude,

What distribution and hardware do you have? Could you provide your system report? It can be generated using the script that you will find in the game installation path.

Does the game output anything to the terminal? What does the game log say? You can find it in $HOME/.config/unity3d/Rain/Teslagrad/.

If you are not comfortable posting that information here you can also contact our support here: https://support.gog.com/
A workaround:

Browse to the subdirectory "[GOG_GAMES]/Teslagrad/game/Teslagrad_linux64_fullversion_1_4" then run the "Teslagrad" binary from there (double click). If you have a 32bit install substitute the "linux64" with "linux32".

I submitted system info and further infos via the support form.
Thanks for that :). Its a viable workaround (the agme launches, haven't tried playing it yet).

Its just unnecessary and avoidable :(

Hey Linuxvangog,

Whoa, you're part of the GOG team; I really didn't expect a response from anyone at that level.

Before I answer your questions, lightonflux has suggested a workaround that seems to work thus far (I haven't started the playing the game yet, but it at least launches).

Hopefully it can be rectified so that other users aren't inconvenienced in the future.

As an aside (and I'm only saying this due to your position as a member of GOG), I've been somewhat disappointed with my Linux experience on GOG. I don't have exact numbers, but it feels like only 50% of the games I buy will work in Linux. With the rest of them, I end up throwing my hands and just playing their windows variants (which is something I'd like to avoid).

I'm sure you guys are working on fixing these issues, but I just needed to get that off my chest and just remind the team that a more robust quality control would be nice.

Thanks and keep up the good work

Which games do not work for you? Many of games sold on GOG require manual installation of game dependencies before they can be started. This information is present on product pages so you know that before you buy a game. Feel free to contact our support anytime you encounter any difficulties to run a Linux game.

I assure you that every game released on GOG is being tested on a varying range of hardware.

I was able (with a lot of help from others) to find the cause of the problem, but not yet the reason.

So the scripts all work fine, which was kind of expected because i couldn't find an error before.

The problem is in the support libraries, well one of them.

Teslagrad/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.19

If you delete it (and the symlink) the game runs fine (started with start.sh).

While this problem was found by people using distros that are not supported, it seems likely that future versions of Ubuntu might have the same problem.

Hi lightonflux!

You are obviously right. The libraries bundled with the game are redundant and outdated - we will remove them with the next update.

Do you update it when the games gets a new version or when you you release a new version of support libraries and the gog installer?

Hello again,

The Linux version of the game without redundant libraries is already available for download.
