Wow, how does it come that the GOG version of Terraria is so huge? I thought the whole game had only a size of about 100-120 MB?
Why is a 130 MB game taking an 800+MB update? o_o

GOG is a curated game store. Steam is not. GOG tests all patches and builds their own installation before making them available. Steam does not. GOG is slower releasing new titles and updates. Steam is not. Everyone complaining about workers at GOG in Poland only working 8-10 hours a day and not 24/7 should stick to Steam and enjoy their constantly updating games that occasionally break each time they launch, because Steam has no quality control over dev updated titles.

I've tried Galaxy once in a VM and uninstalled it when it turned my machine and my account into a Steam lite mess. I'll stick to the old downloader, where I control when and where my games are installed. I use Steam for my Civ V crack addition and all my old Doom/Quake WAD/PK3 files, but that's it. Galaxy/Steam is not targeted to antisocial, misanthropic, single player only gamers, such as my self.

Seriously, I much prefer the stability of game installs on GOG over Steam's haphazard Vegas style crapshoot, but I can see how a game like Terraria, which requires everyone playing the same version in MP, would be frustrating to those who are more comfortable with Steam. For multiplayer titles, Steam is still the leader over GOG in that respect.

The only reason I can think of is if it also downloads the redistributables for DirectX and XNA, they take up a fair amount of space.

Wow, a delay of under 24 hours is so painfully slow, this is totally unacceptable!

>meanwhile android users waiting for lollipop os, released last year
>meanwhile people still waiting for half life 3 since 07
>meanwhile China still waiting for Japan to say sorry since 1945
>meanwhile Christians waiting for return of Jesus since well, 0AD

dayum less than 24 hours is such a terrible wait man! All those wasted hours just waiting and waiting, the horror!

I would rather have slower updates than totally uncontrolled updates. I remember the rage on the steam forums, when the Rod of Discord was nerfed...
Here you would have the simple option to skip the update if you do not agree to game changes. Also other games (sorry, i don't remember specifics anymore) released totally broken updates, which took sometimes days to fix. And since steam does (did) not give a sh*t if a thing like that happens...

Your service is fine.
with each hotfix to the 1.3 update i see another one of these threads

the bottom line is quality service takes time
and i will gladly (and eagerly ) wait the miniscule delay for the service i get with gog
i have been burned by steam in the past (years ago by now...) and do not want to deal with there form of "DRM" again

if you cant have the patience to wait such a irrelevant amount of time
then maybe steams draconian service is for you

and as for all the people that "cant play with there steam friend"
easy im the one that hosts my games
of the 3 others i play with 2 are fine the 1 other is on steam and bummer he misses out on less then a day ...poor thing (there will be more game time)

...
sorry for the rant
i just had to say my 2 cents worth
but i do mean it very much when i say
THANK YOU GOG FOR ALL YOU DO
YOU ARE DOING JUST FINE
KEEP DOING JUST WHAT YOU ARE DOING
DRM-FREE!

sometimes it feels like everyone just complains
but for everyone that takes the time to complain aloud
there are more that are just fine and dont take the time to say thank you

Go to Steam and embrace DRM, then.
Where is your patience?
Thanks for the update, Judas. :)

edit: I hope they fix the forums, its acting weird. I'm trying to edit this post, but it doesn't change (I press 'Post my message', and nothing happens). And also: http://www.gog.com/forum/terraria/wth_invisible_posts_and
I don't see these problems in General Discussion, I think it's only in subforums.
