So Re-Logic just announced official tModLoader support for Steam, Will GOG see any such support?
This might actually be bad news for Terraria on GoG.
They also want to implement Steam Workshop for mods at some point. Once that is in place i am afraid that non steam modding will die.
Obviously, GOG cannot do anything about it, there might though be a tiny bit of Hope ( My own guess!!! ) that
the t-mod developers themselves release some sort of GOG-version of T-Modloader for the GOG-version.

And as of now, i do not know if anyone knows exactly HOW Steam Workshop will be added to
the Steam version of Terraria. Some Steam games do it in a way that you can Subscribe to the Steam Mod and
use that mod-version for the non-steam version by simply copying the files to the Non-Steam Folders.

If pricing of Terraria stays as it is, it would certainly not be a big problem buying the Steam Version just to get Mods
working. Less so if one keeps in mind that many are willing to pre-pay huge amounts of money
( i consider 60 bucks huge ) for Games that are not even released for many months yet.

Given the history of Terraria and Modding I would not yet sound any Alarms or declare "The End is nigh!"
You can download workshop mods from steam but that depends on the developer...If he allows it then it is possible from this website

https://www.steamworkshopdownloader.io/
If i remember correctly, it already took quite some time, when the GoG version of Terraria was released, that tModloader would work with it. And i had the impression that they were quite reluctant to fix it. for fear of promoting piracy. Since tModloader replaces the .exe, it could be claimed that it is on the same level as a crack, after all.

I do own the game on Steam, but i do not know how that downloading of mods works. Don't you need a Steam account and own the game on Steam to download mods?

Yeah you do need the steam version in order to use tModder, yet another fuck-you to GoG users; and seeing as most steam users/modders consider GoG users as pirates (Yeah, pretty idiotic argument but what can you do?) so I doubt that the mod author would do anything about it... Here's hoping that I'm proven wrong!

You can just install it manually the same way you've always been able to. You just need to downpatch to 1.3.5.3 first.

The very link you posted even says "With the new release, tModLoader can be installed anywhere regardless of location or whether it is a Steam install."

And a hearty thank you goes to you for proving me wrong! :) I admit that I did not read the entire link, my mistake, I was too hasty! Well, I was again, too hasty as I should have clicked this link first before responding, but to be fair; Ghost was right to point out my original mistake!

Hmm, that begs a question: Can i somehow obtain the older version of Terraria on GoG, *without* using Galaxy?
There is tmodloader support for gog, you will just have to add it yourself and it won't be a DLC.

Yeah, I'd like to know this too - I usually do keep an older version of game installations around - but just 1 version, and not always.

I thought they simply got rid of older installers, but if the Galaxy client can find them then why not us manual download users? Just add an expandable tab "click here for previous versions" on the download page or something, can't be that hard.

they did update it to 1.4.0.2 since release, they will update.
It might actully be more gog's fault then relogic's, but they will get updated installers.

If you want latest version you have to use gog galaxy for now.
I just bought Terraria and I can only get 1.4.1.1. Which is not supported yet by tModLoader. They suggest I downgrade to 1.4.1.0, but I can't run galaxy on linux and gog has only automated support.
if anyone has the 1.4.1.0 install sh .. please hit me up mmance at mmance dot com

I loaded up my tmodloader today and my character and world were there but nameless- the character i could not continue on and he had 20 mana with 100 health (effectively a starter character) the world however i could load up and it was empty with the hell music in the background.
