Is it possible on GOG.com version of terraria? Because i can't even install GL right now.
Most current mods are likely to specifically work with the Steam executable, which is not really surprising since that's been the only (PC) version for over 3 years.

It won't be impossible to make the mods work with the GOG version, it will just take time and effort.

Someone asked the dev of Game Launcher of a possible GOG compatible version

Their response > "possible yes, not really sure how to check for legit versions tho, only way would be to check the hash value of the executable but i would need a gog.com version (and no, i dont want to buy the game a second time just for this)

Edit:
thinking of it: because there is no DRM for the gog.com version you would no longer need a crack for a pirated version and thus a hash value check would not work so this is not an option"

edit: Link to that comment

Sp that is just a mod manager, right? Can't we use the mods without it?
I find this hilarious. So because of SOME people who pirate the game, the people who actually buy the game on GOG are punished? If the pirates' wanna use GL then I say let them. They're sore losers anyways :/

Edit: Saying they're sore losers is pretty extreme... Considering some people can't afford games sometimes.

Ugh, this sucks. Maby if enough people buy the gog version, them the mod makers will allow non steam terraria's to run there mods.
To be fair, before the GOG release the Steam version was the only legal version in existence. However, I still agree that makers of mods and other tools should not be policing players, because this sort of thing will always break in the future eventually. So unless you intend to keep buying every official version and are willing to update within a few hours after an issue has been brought up, just don't.
Tapi R11 has just been released recently and can be installed on GOG Terraria.

Head on over to terraria community forums to get it.
Lol that was me. :)

I suggest GOG users keep asking for modders to update there mods until this is changed as this is really really silly.

EDIT:

Update the controller mod is coming to the GOG version and is confirmed. GL is not off the table but nothing is confirmed yet.

Once again Steam has a god damn monopoly on everything...

Spent a good half hour trying to figure out why i was getting steam related errors when trying to play mods on my GoG Terraria..

Fuck off Steam.
This is not a general issue with Steam. The "problem" lies with somwhat overzealous modders, who, before the GoG release, checked for steam dlls to make sure their mods won't work on pirated versions of Terraria. Many mods that are still in develpment have that check removed by now.
I Figured Out How To Run The Gameiki Creative Mod On The GOG Version Of Terraria
And Im Pretty Sure It Will Work With Mods That Require You To Use Steam TO Launch A Special Terraria EXE File
If you figuered it out then pls share your knowledge? There is a new version of N Terraria for 1.3...
