Did the update bring precious ore up higher? I just found Platinum on the surface! :O

Gold/Platinum on the surface is sometimes a sign of a floating island above that position.

Started playing again last night out of boredom. :P Wound up roaming through the underground jungle in my original world (still pre-Hardmode) with my original (softcore) character, and went into one of the hives that I had never opened up. Was gonna zip out and go wander somewhere else, but I found out my grappling hook can break the larva things that summon the Queen Bee, who I'd never fought before. Luckily, I was apparently WAAAAY over-equipped for that battle, as I never even had to change my equipment or use any potions (including healing). Whoopee!
I suppose at some point I should make a proper attempt against the Wall of Flesh, but...meh.

I prefer my terraria seasons unrelated to the real ones, so RunAsDate was an exciting find, no more messing with the system clock. Maybe its useful to others too. Now if that bat hook would please drop already...

Well, considering that, when I last posted in this thread, I was still playing 1.2.4.1 (in which Expert mode didn't exist), and that I have never even played in Hardmode in any world...normal. Definitely normal. :)
I finally said "fuck it" back in October and installed the (at the time) newest version of the game -- first time my installed copy had been up-to-date since the 1.3 update rolled out, more than 15 months earlier -- just so I could start a new world with all the most recent additional biomes and such, and so I wouldn't care so much about "messing up" when I trigger Hardmode eventually. (So of course a month later they released a new round of updates. :| I still haven't updated to 1.3.4.x, in large part because I don't really give a shit about crossovers with other games.)

I don't really care about the "other game" part, but I do like the new content anyway. I've found out that a Valhalla Knight armor set and a Ruthless Ballista Staff are a good way to make events such as Frost Moon and Pumpkin Moon more easily winnable; the ballista sentries dealing more damage than traditional traps.

The good part of the latest update is not that it's a crossover, but that it's a new type of wave based event. The weapons aren't as powerful as the Moon Lord stuff, but the event is also easier than him.

..the itch to play this game again is growing lol
