Starmaker: Spent two hours (minus fishing) building a storage space and sorting stuff. Noticed an Extendo Grip vanished. I must have accidentally sold it. Sigh.
Alt + Left Click on an item will mark it as a favourite for as long as it stays in your inventory, preventing you from accidentially selling, trashing or stashing it using shift + left click or the Auto Stack button. You can favourite all the items in your inventory, but not any equipped armor, vanity, accessories or stuff in the tool section (hooks, mounts etc.). Equipping a favourite item, deliberately selling, dropping it or putting it in a chest will clear the favourite marking.

Starmaker: Progress log

Found a sword shrine. Unfortunately, the sword in it was as valuable as a ticking Rolex bought for a three-dollar bill.
Do you remember which sword it was? Just curious.

Starmaker: Mined out a meteorite. (Ouch, they burn.) Made the full meteorite set, three space guns (the first two sucked) and a purple sword. Bought an ammo box so the star cannon is an option if I start losing to bosses.
I like that a single meteor drop gives you enough raw material to make all of that stuff. But I don't like what it does to the terrain. I may need to build some sort of blocking or sacrificial structure up in the sky, but I think that screws with the Falling Stars making it down to the surface. For what it's worth, my last two deaths were from meteorite burns - I keep forgetting to bring along the proper potion when I go to clear out the mess.

Starmaker: How does anyone build anything in Corruption? Got sick of tweezers constantly attacking while building an arena to fight the tapeworm, barely finished a short platform and went down to smash orbs. Got two mana rings and a musket.
I just block off passages (pre-hardmode). It won't stop worms but nearly everything else leaves me alone (same thing for fishing). Note that they will spawn inside your blocked area if you wander too far from the blockage you created.

I rarely build IN the corruption. Under the corruption works better, and protects the rest of the world from corruption from that source once I go hardmode.

Meteors will stop falling if there are a certain amount of ore already in the world. 800 blocks, I believe, on a large world, and lesser amounts for smaller worlds. I just stopped mining the meteors and left them alone and no new ones have dropped. I've seen other people build Meteor shrines made of meteor blocks for more creative methods.

A fake shrine with the brown sprite. I don't think it produced anything.

From what I read, it's vice versa: a solid skybridge is a great choice for star collection but screws with meteorites making it down to the surface and producing usable amounts of ore. So if you're sick of meteorites, build a solid bridge and lay minecart tracks on it with end bumpers which reverse direction, then ride it to and fro at night to collect stars. Granted, that'll deprive you of the fun (if any) of collecting random stars while doing anything else, but even I got bored now that I can't die to a Blood Moon.

From the wiki:
Meteorites will not land within 25 tiles of a player, NPC or a chest.
I guess seeding the surface with chests is also an option.

I don't use potions (and hey, if you have access to the obsidian skin potion, y no obsidian skull?), I just dig in from the side. Works okay even without the Extendo Grip. Now, the latest meteorite landed in Corruption, which means tweezers.

I wanted an arena to fight the tapeworm. And I'll probably need an evil shroom farm eventually, the wiki says it must be "naturally lit" which among other things means "aboveground".

Shroom farms are east. I've accidentally started them. :P One seed, that's ALL YOU NEED!

Vile/Vicious Mushrooms are only really useful to make additional summon items for the Eater of Worlds and Brain of Cthulhu. You'll usually get enough Shadow Orbs/Crimson Hearts to summon the world apropriate boss 2-3 times on a small world, which should be enough materials for any solo playthrough if you don't fail them all. And even then, it only takes 6 mushrooms to make one of the summon items.
So I'm reading up on Inventory to see what else I missed, and see this:
Right-clicking a Social slot will swap its content with the paired slot.
Which means I can equip my melee set while carrying my ranged set in the social slots, looking as if I have the ranged set equipped, and vice versa. Ha.

Also, yay, there's a button to turn off an accessory displayed on the character sprite. Now I won't look too much of a dork and eat a framerate hit, with the balloon disabled.

Oh. For some reason I thought they're used in crafting clentaminator ammo.

And a special thanks to you for the favorite item hint, it'll be a huge help.

KIlled him once with (I think) a single shot from the imp. I know I've killed him with no more than a few shots with the space gun. Even on expert, digging under the corruption gives a long enough set of platforms so if you run away from him, he'll get all straightened out so piercing shots hit all his segments. As a bonus, if you really like farming him (how many suits of shadow armor does one really need?) all the orbs are nice and convenient. Dig a shaft straight down from each orb to the platform below, then smash, drop, run, shoot. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Thorfinn: (how many suits of shadow armor does one really need?)
Just one, to tide me over until I mine or fish out that sweet Titanium set with the fluffy magic helmet. (Does a particular tier of hardmode ores need to be officially generated in the world before it becomes valid crate loot?)
Plus I need to have some good stuff stored back home to guarantee a fast recovery when I finally get killed.

My base is two flat forest screens away from my original spawn point, so I built a platform and a house aboveground in the Corruption, mirrored there after breaking the third orb, then collected the bed and mirrored home.

You can get alternate ores and bars from crates. Just remember to open crates in hardmode if you want the hardmode ores.

The last one landed in the desert, unfortunately, so sideways mining wasn't a good option. For the potions, I think I found a few but I don't have but a few pieces of raw obsidian so far. I'll have to look up the skull - guessing it's fire protection. For some reason I don't tend to notice those little red 1s and 2s shooting off my body as I'm touching the hot meteorite... problem solved if I'd simply pay better attention! Heh.

800 blocks... I suppose I can make that happen easily enough.

Just place one block of sand on top of the meteorite, and mine the meteorite that's underneath it. If only there were a place in the desert one could find sand...
I was able to skip right past the Obsidian Skull. Happened to have picked up a Cobalt Shield a while back, made a skull, and combined it right away with the Cobalt Shield to make an Obsidian Shield.

That's one detail I like about the game: combining items to make a single piece that provides the attributes of both pieces (or more, if the crafted item requires more than two materials), so you aren't sucking up as much inventory space.

Made the first foray into the Underworld, sort of. There is a tall building down there that comes really close to the underside of the ash area I was in, so I dropped down and really quickly made up a couple walls that reached the bottom of the ash. This, just to keep the Voodoo Demons out to avoid accidentally triggering the WoF (again). So while down in the Underworld, there wasn't really any sort of danger. But at least that was a chance to safely see some of the stuff that needs to be dealt with.
Well. Some progress of my first long game.

After many tries and redo of

"Slaying Lunatic Cultist - Initiate Lunar Events - Destroy 4 Celestial Pillars and a lot of its annoying minions - Fight and try to beat Moon Lord - if possible craft Celestial Sigil and fight Moon Lord again without initiating Lunar Events"

I finally beat the Moon Lord using Meele character setup (Solar Eruption as main weapon) and some arena setup.

Already beat him multiple times and finished all four Luminite armor sets, some weapon drops and got a Godly Terrarian. Still no luck for Meowmere.

Terrarian itself is a really great weapon as for Godly modifier it reach above 300 of damage. By using that, I finished through Pumpkin Moon event until waves 15. Tried the same thing with Frostmoon event but I guess melee weapon doesn't really suited to fight Ice Queen. I'll try Ranged/Magic setup for Frostmoon next time.

But... after Moon Lord beaten I feel that I already "finished" this game. I want to continue it to expert mode with corruption type of world, but thinking I need to explore the world again is kind of make me lazy. Maybe I'll just take a break from this game for now.

I am still wondering how people would play it multiplayer. But I don't have any friend to play with. So... I guess I'll wait until perhaps GOG Galaxy can be used for it.

Anyway, good luck for anyone who still trying to "finish" the game.
