tinyE: Yeah I was thinking about the shell though the Egyptians used limestone for that. As for the cap, I have grave marker that is basically a granite pyramid which I was thinking of using as a cap. Of course like I said, when my new pc gets here I'm starting over from scratch and baring a good looking fountain may end up with the gold cap.

And I just found this on a history site.

Matewis: If you tear yourself away from kerbal space program that is ;)

Just like that yes: steps on the inside and smooth marble on the outside. That would look awesome. Perhaps in that case it would be better to keep the inside of the pyramid brown like the steps, to contrast with the white outer shell.
Damn now I'm getting curious. Get building already! I want to see the end result!
The new computer isn't even here yet, and when it does I have a shitload of other things to do like installing Firefox, Malware Bytes, Avast, and then the GOG installer. After that I have a thumb drive loaded with shit I need to put on. I'll get to it eventually, but I'm for sure going to make the inside rooms marble but I may leave the inner incline sand like you suggest.

tinyE: ...
Well good luck with all of that, and enjoy that new-pc smell :) Last time I smelled that plasticcy goodness was in 2007, and I've suffered periodical withdrawal symptoms ever since :P

Thorfinn: Interesting!

I always wondered about that, since it seemed my large world chests filled up much earlier, but how could anything in a Wiki be wrong?

Unkalibriert: One should never take everything written in books (or online encyclopaedias) for granted, because anyone can put anything in there.
Right. I forgot the <IRONY> </IRONY> tags.

Does this mean I should also double-check the info you posted? And verify that the map viewer properly reports how much ore each world has? And come to think of it, I rarely verify that the stuff that looks like iron I'm mining actually gets added to the stack of iron ore in my inventory. ;-)

PS Don't take this the wrong way. I agree with you, and generally I take everything on Wiki with a grain of salt. I'm surprised at myself that I didn't apply the same standards to this piece of conventional wisdom.
Progress log

1. Lost my piggy bank somewhere, bought a new one.
2. Defeated a goblin army (got careless, had to mirror to the nurse to heal up). Archers are dicks.
3. Dug around the Corruption, cracked two more spheres, got Ball o'Hurt and Vilethorn. 320 hp now. One meteor dropped, didn't find it yet. Found an Enchanted Sword in the middle of nowhere, near Corruption. (Are my chances of finding a legit shrine less now?)
4. Killed King Slime (during Slime Rain) with the Ball o'Hurt by running away, striking back with the ball and getting hit hard when reversing direction. Cost me two or three lesser healing potions. A Slime Hook dropped.
5. Started building a railroad to the east, accidentally dropped the stack of rails, found the jungle. Feels dangerous, plus I'm out of torches.
6. Fished up some quest fish to use it as opportunity arises.

The amount of shrines in a world depends on world size, Small: 1, Medium: 3, Large: 4.

Have two piggy banks, carry one, keep one on a table in your base. Their contents are always the same so if you happen to misplace the one you are carrying then you can still get everything you had in it via the one you leave at home.

I mean, I was digging around Corruption and found a weird object in a completely ordinary section of a small cave, like maybe a 6x8 rough oval, no greenery or anything. Thinking it was some sort of dye-producing plant, I struck it and looted an Enchanted Sword. (1) The hell? (2) Did it count as a shrine? (I haven't found a legit shrine yet, and I've explored more than half the lowercase-s surface.)
The small world I'm playing in the moment was created with 1.3.0.2 and has (according to TerraMap) three Enchanted Sword Shrines, of which two are not located inside the special shrine cave. There also are three other shrine caves with fake shrines.

So the data given in the wiki would be "minimum numbers", I suppose.

Speaking of quest fish... you're probably aware of this already but The Angler will give you quests to fish, say, underground. Note that just because you're underneath the surface you might not be officially Underground. You need to get to the altitude / depth specified for that quest. One of the devices you can find will display your depth and also whether you're underground, surface, space, etc.

I've been having my own troubles meeting the last few quests, especially those for 'dirt fishing' on the surface and also those in underground ponds. I think I need to landscape an underground fishing pool - there are a natural couple places that look like they should be large enough, but they are oddly shaped and that might make the game engine consider them to be too small. Keep coming up with tin cans and shoes even though the contiguous water area is pretty large, whereas I never get that garbage from my surface and cloud fishing holes.

It's probably because some of those underground ponds are partially covered. The wiki has a nice screenshot with a quick explanation of how pond size is calculated.

Until I get money trough, I prefer 3. One in the center of storage, and two stacked in inventory. That way when you pick it back up, it always goes back in the same place in inventory. Which is how I handle safes, too.

So that's what that one-block wide shaft is. I just figured they were glitches in world generation. Guess I'll have to check them out.

I suspected as much. Looks like I have some work to do.

Edit: Got part of the task complete. I have made larger underground lakes for Jungle, Forest, Ice, and Corruption areas. I'd like to see if I can make an underground desert lake - there is barely a drop of water down there so it will take some creative routing to make that happen. A bit more scouting is in order...

The Linux version is out?? :o

THE LINUX VERSION IS OUT!!!!!

Better get out my laptop and download ASAP.
Ooh.. I didn't know about that Enchanted Sword and its shrine. That Arkhalis looks good. But I am already on Hardmode and using Terra Blade (and beetle armor)

Plantera and Golem are beaten. Opened Hallow, Frozen, and Jungle chest in the Dungeon. Currently farming for Crimson key which is really hard to get (other keys was kind of easy or I got lucky..).

Already defended from Solar Eclipses, Pirate Invasions, Goblins. Still looking for Martian Madness (how to find martian probe ?). I am still having problem to reach waves 15 for Pumpkin Moon... that Mourning Wood projectile attack is really something. Still at 7-8 waves.

Tried to fight Duke Fishron and got trampled in seconds. The same thing with Lunatic Cultist... it is really hard to fight it.

So now I am still wandering around. Perhaps I'll just mine some more Chlorophyte, farm Plantera and Golem again or farm mechanical bosses. Any tips ?

Probes can only spawn in the outer thirds of the map and spawn more frequently at Space elevation... so your best bet is to go sit on a floating island that's not in the 1/3 center region of the map with a placed water candle, a water candle in the hand, and an active battle potion to increase spawn rates and number of active mobs. If you have the accessory that shows rare mobs, it really helps, as Wyverns and Harpies won't show on that, so you'll know right away if a probe is near.

If you're going to fight the martians, make sure you have a tunnel that's only about 6-8 blocks high or so, with a solid block ceiling, to protect you from the death beam from the UFO mini boss. I had Spectre armour and Fishron-tier weapons and the UFOs absolutely trounced me until I did that (and they're the ones that drop the fun stuff). If you're melee, you'll probably want a yo-yo that you can swing around the ledge that's protecting you. (Unless there's other melee weapons that home in? I don't melee.)
