Unkalibriert: don't leave any open marble surfaces.
Well, given that I built a 20-unit NPC apartment out of smooth marble, and furnished each apartment with a marble bed, dresser, bathtub, table, and chair, I'd say I only need to do maybe another half hour of mining before I have *all* the marble from that biome. (Yeah, my NPCs live in luxury! I even gave them a heart lamp so they'd survive the blood moons more easily. >.>)

Right, back to mining I go!

For whatever reason, the granite elementals and golems never cause me any trouble at all. I think it's because I've only ever gotten them one at a time. With the exception of bosses, I can pretty much handle any *one* monster at a time, so far.
Finally got that last Angler reward for the Fish Finder. Having more space in the inventory is nice.

OneFiercePuppy: I'm so glad somebody mentioned the medusae and hoplites. Those damned hoplites are giving me some real trouble. I've gone out of my way to mine up ore and make a full set of platinum armor, and I've got that ice-ball throwing frost blade, but I keep stumbing upon groups of them with two medusae and four to six hoplites, which generally results in me waking up in my bed with less money than I had a moment ago. v_v
Ah, that's why I use the yoyo so much. A single dirt block in the right spot makes a choke point, and then I steer the yoyo around whatever obstacles happen to be in the way. Armored enemies can take a lot of hits but it beats dying when I find myself in a spot that's otherwise a bit beyond the capabilities of my armor and weapons. I generally suck at platformers so I end up taking advantage of cheesy tactics. ; )

I need to get better at using grenades. If I hotkey them, then I eventually end up hitting the wrong key - selecting grenades - and hurting myself with a boom in a tight location when I meant to grab the pickaxe or something like that. Operator error, to be sure! But grenades can do a nice bit of damage to a large group, especially when they tend to bunch up on a bit of terrain.

Are groups of that size normal or am I being "blessed" by the RNG?
Better keep the gold in one of your chests so it doesn't drop when you die. Also, when digging in general, remember you can build walls/platforms to shield yourself and keeps mobs away.

As a side note, I've never ever seen more than three hoplites and a medusa at once, idk how you guys are getting 6. In my marble biomes I get more bats (and piranhas/jellyfishes if there's water) than anything else.

That reminds me of the time I took a stack of bombs to go mining with. I saw some butterflies as I was exiting my house, so I switched to my bug net to catch them, but hit one key over (the bombs) and bombed my own house. I spent that day rebuilding instead of mining haha.
Here's a tip: If you decide to build a green house, don't put it too close to where your explosives guy sleeps. One zombie showed up, he starts lobbing grenades, my whole crop was blown to pieces! :P
Well, after two consecutive nights of leaving Terraria running so I didn't have to lose a crapload of dropped items, I finally recovered my stuff. And all it took was mining all the ore I could find and crafting better gear than the stuff I lost in the first place. =D
This game continues to crack me up in small ways. A bit earlier I picked up a bottle of tartar sauce, which is used to create the Mini Minotaur pet. Apparently a reference to some youtube guy. But I was thinking to myself, "Of course! A Minotaur is the first thing I think of when someone mentions tartar sauce."

A few days ago I had a minor giggling fit over the explosive bunny. Because I found it's used in the Bunny Cannon. Now the wife keeps asking if I've built the Bunny Cannon yet, and I think she wants to see it more than I do.

Got a Sawtooth Shark now, which is a great melee weapon - at least compared to the ones I've used up until now. And I get to pretend to be Jesse James Dupree so that's a bonus. Between that and the Reaver Shark, combat just got a whole lot easier than before. Anyway, I finally bumped off the Eye of Chthulu by using the Sawtooth Shark. Pretty nice loot drop from that thing.

It didn't kill me, I'm just sharing / showing off. There were like seven zombies gnawing at the enclosure so it looked like I was done stargathering for the night, and then it hit me. This character now has a full set of iron equipment, a defense bonus, and boots of speed.

I think your wife is going to have to wait a bit for you to get your hands on the Bunny Cannon. It is bought from the Pirate (who is unlocked by defeating the Pirate invasion), the Party Girl needs to be present (requires 14 other NPCs to spawn), hardmode needs to be active and you have to have defeated a Mechanical Boss. Once you've gotten that, it only takes 50 gold (which admittedly isn't that hard to get at that point).
Any tips for organizing chests?

Last night I decided to separate my initial housing (it's a mess) and my workshop. Made a 'floating' 2-story building, slapped all of my crafting stations inside on the 2nd floor, and have so far placed 16 chests on the first floor. I have wood chests on one side, and those will be holding building materials - terrain blocks, wood, walls, doors, etc. The other side has mostly gold chests which will contain crafting materials, divided into things like Apparel, Weapons, Dyes, Fish / Foods, Plants / Seeds, etc. The colorful chests (water and some other one) have ores and bars. And I have a piggy bank in there, for some reason.

I keep forgetting which chest holds what stuff. Do you simply make signs to place over each one? I was hoping to avoid that since I'm maximizing the space by stacking the chests, using platforms. I suppose I could make a note for both chests in one sign, x8 signs so far. And a pig.

You can label them now as of the latest updates. Just click on them and you should get the option to 'ReName'.
You can rename chests and therefore just name them like you wish. I have named my chests like "copper", "iron", "silver" and so on.

To rename a chest simply click on "rename" in the option list on the right after right-clicking on the chest,

This is possible since some 1.2.x update, iirc. I did it in 1.2.4.1 as well.

Wiki says the feature was implemented in 1.2.3.
