The manual in joystick controls lists throttle as being assigned to throttle on the joystick, however in the game it is set to buttons 3 and 4.
Is there a way to assign it to analog throttle?

I am playing on widows XP with Logitech EXTREME 3D PRO joystick.

Yes the game supports throttle.
However you may need edit the Dosbox .conf for it to work and change it to something like:

[joystick]
joysticktype=auto
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=true
buttonwrap=false

Especially swap34=true is important because otherwise throttle will be assigned to sticktwist.
After that I think you need to go the options menu in the game and assign throttle to be analog.

I've had DOSbox installed before any GOG games utilizing it.
Do I have to edit the .conf file in main DOSbox directory or look for it in Terminal Velocity folder.
If former, editing swap34=true does not work.

You need to edit the .conf in the game install folder.
It worked.
