So I tell my monk to trip attack a foe. The message "trip successful" comes up, and... my monk falls down? He successfully tripped himself? Did he tie his shoelaces together? That's happened a couple times. I'd be bitter, but I'm laughing too hard.

Check out the die rolls.

What I bet is happening is

1) Monk tries to trip
2) Monk fails the trip
3) Upon a fail, the victim gets an automatic trip attempt
4) The victim's trip is successful and your monk goes down
Aha I will have to observe the die rolls next time this happens. I want to think I wouldn't miss noticing that, but I may not be as clever as I give myself credit for.
