It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

The intro videos work just fine, but I'm unable to get past the main menu without it crashing. None of the text displays properly and appears broken-up; I'm also unable to see the mouse cursor move. A minute later it crashes.

I've tried installing/reinstalling numerous times, checking the compatibility, and changing the resolution before starting the game up again, but all to no avail.

My set-up is a Windows 7 with an Intel HD graphics card.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

When you say you reinstalled, did you redownload it? Or use the same installer?

If you haven't redownloaded, give that a try. If you used Galaxy, then use the downloader or html. Or vice versa.

Also, be sure your drivers are up to date. And be sure you have Direct X 9.0c installed (support says to use this one: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

I meant both redownloaded and reinstalled. I just tried using Galaxy but the same issue still occurs. I downloaded Direct X 9.0 (thanks for the link) and still the same problem. Thank you for the suggestions though.

Also, I think I recall having a similar problem when I tried playing either Dragon Shard and Demon Stone, both of which I bought from GOG.

Also try changing the install location. Maybe to just toee under C:
It took me a few tries to get the game installed so it doesn't crash in the menu,
and there was no apparent reason to why it worked when it did.

And if you get the game running, do also install Circle of Eight modpack.
There's a just bugfix version and new content version.

I found this post:
http://www.co8.org/forum/printthread.php?t=10704

People there think it could be a resolution issue for a similar, but not exactly the same, problem. You could try using Co8's front-end to change the resolution.

At this point, definitely contact support and see if they can help you, too. If it's a recent purchase, then you can get your money back in 30 days.

Alternatively, if you have another PC you can try it on, give it whirl.

Even the basic version of the mod still contains some new content. By the Co8 devs' their own admission, it still adds some quests, locations and features that aren't in the "vanilla" game. They simply decided that it was content that was "basic" enough that most players would want it regardless.
