Is anyone else experiencing an issue with the Co8 "modpack"? I'm running Windows 7. I CAN NOT OPEN THE DOWNLOADED FILE! I have tried every trick I can think of. I am running as Admin. I tried opening it with a half dozen different programs. My PC simply does not recognize the file. I have tried Co8's forum's. but their Admin sucks. There are posts over 6 month's old still waiting for Admin approval. I scoured the internet and found dozens of posts where people were experiencing the same issue, but their are NONE on the Co8 forums. It's now 2015 and Windows XP is no longer supported by MS, why are they still putting out incompatible MODs?

You don't need to 'open' the file with anything. It's an executable file; you double-click it to start the setup.

Put it into the ToEE Folder before installing it.

If nothing happens, download Co8 again and update Java.

I had the same issue. Updated Java, made a fresh ToEE Installation (every anti virus application turned off ) and put the mod into the ToEE folder to install it.

That worked.

Ok, let me try this again. I downloaded the latest JAVA. I turned off all virus protection. I turned off my firewall. I gave myself full ADMIN control. I double click the setup file and I get a pop up box that says my pc does not know what this is and asks me to browse my pc or check online for the proper program to open it. I have re-downloaded it several times as well as different versions, just in case. None of them will open and I get the same message. Again I am running windows 7 64. Also JAVA ver. 8 update 51 installed.

Is the file's extension .exe? Sometimes it removes that when downloading for some reason (maybe because the file name has a '.' in it).

Then either the file extension is wrong -- it should be .exe -- or your computer has a serious issue, since it is essential that it knows what to do with .exe files. I'm guessing it's the first, so open your Windows Explorer folder properties and make sure that 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' is checked. Then check the downloaded filename. It should be something like this, with .exe at the end...

Circle_of_Eight_Modpack_7.8.0_NC_Setup.exe

It could be your browser, I suppose. What is the exact name of your file, and how big is it in bytes?

Did you remember to uncheck Hide extensions for known file types?

Yes, I unchecked the Hide extensions box. I just doublechecked it.

Ok, figured it out. Thank you for all your help. I just renamed the file and added a .exe file extension. Why this is neccessary is beyond me, but it worked. Thanks again.

That's your browser that did that. The giveaway is the [1] appended, though why it would strip the extension is beyond me.

Could also be their AV/Security software, but browser would be my first guess.
