So, I installed Co8 770 NC.

I was under the impression you could make a larger party. I can see it in the front end options, but when I choose 8 or 7, when I load up the game, I go to kake a new party, but can still only add 5 characters to the party.

Also, the mod pack deleted my own characters from the roster, I have no problems making more, but I thought it saved my own characters in the roster.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Also, if I uninstall the mod pack and revert to the vanilla game will my old characters and saves be restored? (When applying the mod, it said it would make back up saves of them.

Thanks for any help :)

Still had no time to try Circle of Eight, but the Troubleshooting checklist states:
"I have the maximum number of PCs set to 8 in TFE-X, but the game won't let me add more than 5 on the party pool page!

The game actually is adding them. You just can't see them on the party pool page due to original user interface limitations. They will be there when you start the game."

Hope that helps.

It does indeed! Thank you very much for that :)

have you checked if you can have the extra amount as NPC I mean if you fill your rooster with 8 homemade characters is there room for NPCs and if you take the 5 character team do you then have room for even more NPCs?
If I can use this thread for a sec since I just installed the addon and am playing with it; before I get too far into the game, is there a huge advantage or disadvantage to certain party sizes? I prefer smaller groups but is the game even playable with say four characters?

More characters are advisable as you can have more options from the different classes races and what not combat wise I don't think smaller size party is a problem though it will certainly be harder

Thanks. I got time so screw it, I'll do both. BTW for the less then graceful players out there the mod does eliminate the tutorial so if you are like me, play that, THEN activate the mod.

The mod allows you to choose the spread between PC's and NPC's if thats what you are asking? You can have 8 characters all together, the PC's are increased by reducing the NPC total.

I would imagine there will be an XP penalty and large groups can be annoying in confined spaces as the pathfinding isnt great in ToEE.

Yeah, I'm finding that while I'm glad I got it it's not going to be my go to game when I'm feeling like just kicking back and having some fun. Actually Demon Stone seems to fit that bill; it's simple and shallow but sometimes that's all you need.

I think I played that on PS2, dont remember much about it though tbh, just there were 3 characters.

I bought it during the sale, its 3 characters, fast and ZERO thought involved. My point was it's a nice opposite to ToEE which for me is great. When I play a lot of one type I like to immediately make a huge crossover.

Ah, OK, I got ToEE cos I played it before at release....forgot how much of a pita it was though, must root out DS again and see what it's like :).

So what you are saying is that by filling your rooster with PCs you can't have any NPCs right? because if that is the case some of the quests wont be available as they come with an NPC following. so you have to have room for at least 2 as I recall not completely sure though?
That I dont know, I guess you could use the Inn roster if it comes down to that.
I don't think there's room for (hired) NPC's if you take max number of characters. Not something I'd mind of too much. I think the few who follow around as part of quest would still be ok, but not sure. Guess you could leave one empty slot for those.

As Difficulty goes, I've played around quite a bit and if you use CO8 to remove the level cap, the game is not really at all harder with a smaller party. Actually might be easier with a small party. All XP is divided, so having only.. say 2 characters means you get heck of a lot more XP per character than with a party of 8. And you have cash to buy pretty much everything you want.

But that's as far as early game goes, and unless you remove the cap, obviously eight 10th level chars are more effective than three 10th levelers. In later game CO8 extra stuff, there's times where things become real hard with just a few charactes.
