NightK: So what does Circle of Eight add?
1) Fixes all the bugs! - This is a big deal for this very poorly bug tested game.
2) Gives you the option of having new content (use a mod ending in NC) or not having new content (use non-NC mod).
3) Changes the level cap from 10 to 20 (if you want).
4) Adds spells and magic items.
5) Provides much better AI for a lot of battles (enemy are more responsive to you picking them off one at a time). They also choose better spells and target your spell caster sometimes.
6) Allows you to use up to 8 of your own characters rather than using NPCs to fill out your max party.
7) Allows you to set characters to garner max HP on level up (you'll wish you'd clicked this checkbox if you didn't).
8) Lots and lots of other things!
Honestly, the new content is what makes the mod pack go from a good thing to a great thing. All the new content is probably more play tested than the original game was based upon my experience. I'm no Co8 flunky, but I did play the game when it came out and hated the experience. The mod pack has taken an 8 hour game and turned it into a glorious 40+ hour tactical RPG.
On a different note, for those of you having problems installing and playing with the game installed within the program file folder of your 7 or Vista machine.... STOP USING THE GOG DEFAULT INSTALLATION. As has been noted in about 783 threads on Gog, create a games directory on your C drive and choose to install there instead.
TOEE rocks.
Edit: 9) Gives you a 1st level adventure, Welkwood Bog, to gain xp rather than doing 19 separate fedex quests.
