grantanz: I had a bit of trouble getting ToEE to work with the Co8 pack - when I ran it, it would go full-screen for a second, then minimise and refuse to go back to full-screen, no matter how I might click.
It seems to be working now - what I think fixed it (although I may be wrong!) was setting both the TFE-X executable and ToEE.exe to "Run as Admin".
This actually sounds like the firefox-related issue some games (especially older?) have. Try closing any/all firefox windows before launching the game and see if that fixes the issue.
antihero_: What are you basing your information on exactly?
Honestly, I'm going by what Info I can find on the Co8 forums, and what I can glean from the posts here. I originally checked this thread, but some people said install this, others said install that. It was more confusing than anything else, so I went, instead to the Co8 forums.
Co8 says, repeatably, that they pack requires Atari patches 1 & 2, but that patch 3 will break a number of processes within the mod. Alright, sounds simple enough, but after some fiddling around, I found you could install the Co8 pack directly on top of the GOG version without patching, which suggests, heavily, to me that the GOG version contains (at a minimum) patch 1 and 2. At this point I've played through about 4 hours without any issues, so the Co8 pack seems to be issue free.
Now, about patch 3. At best, it's a moot issue. You say that the GOG version already has it included, and I've got no reason to argue with you there. It's certainly possible that any modifications GOG made to the .exe have countered any compatibility issues Co8 had between itself, retail and patch 3.
But if that's the case, why bother installing patch 3? It's an unnecessary step, and one that *may* cause harm. All risk, no reward. So yes, I may be erring on the side of caution. But I'm also simply being pragmatic; the game works without patching, so I don't patch it.
