After making a halfling rogue, I realised/remembered that, due to a rather lazy implementation of small/medium weapons, I'd be severely limited in what weapons I could use. I'd chosen to dual wield for the extra sneak attack damage, and obviously being a rogue I picked up weapon finesse ASAP. Up to now I've been using a shortsword and dagger, since my main hand weapon didn't need to be light. Now I have weapon finesse, though, I need two light weapons to be effective. I'd been planning on taking Halfling Sianghams, assuming that they would give proficiency to halflings in the same manner as gnome hooked hammers, and dwarven urgroshes, but it would appear not? Are daggers really the only light weapon available to small characters without taking exotic weapon proficiency??

If so, what did halflings to to Troika to cause them to hate the race so much? :P Incidentally, I have the new content version of the Co8 modpack installed, if that adds anything to my possibilities.

The difference between different kinds of weapons really only matters at low levels. A dagger will average average exactly 1 point less damage than a shortsword, regardless of whether you're a level 1 character with mundane equipment or a 20th level character with the most powerful enchantments possible. The difference between a shortsword and dagger is exactly 1 point of damage. Just stick with daggers, it's not nearly as big of a problem as it seems.

I know, and I guess that that's less of an issue than in BG (which I've just come from) because crafting is implemented and so you're less reliant on the included loot (which would mean having too many people using the same equipment type would be bad). I was just wondering if there are any other light weapons available for a small character. I'm familiar with the 3.5 rules, but not with the 3.0 ones (much less the hybrid ToEE uses), and the manual isn't being helpful in this regard.

It's just one of those areas where the "rushed" nature of ToEE's development comes through. Weapons for the small-sized races got overlooked.
