I am playing the linux version and the first run through was fine. When my character died, I started another and whenever I'm done building the character and the game starts, the black screen that says "Building dungeon level 1" stays up and does not go away. I can walk around and interact with people, bring up the pause menu, and do just about anything, but I can only tell because of audio cues. I waited until a new version was out and updated, I tried closing the game several times, but am unable to start a character now. Any help?

Try running the game in Windowed mode at launch; this may solve the problem. There seems to be some issues where the display driver sometimes does not report the right resolution to the game...

Yes, thank you! That fixed it. I'll keep an eye out for bugfixes and keep playing in windowed mode until then.

In my experience, windowed mode applies only to the main menu and character selection screens. Once you get into the game proper the game takes over the whole screen :)
