Any word on if GOG is gonna get the original Monkey Island games anytime soon? Like, on DOS, or whatever they were originally on?

Could probably bundle it with Sam and Max: Hit The Road since they got the new TellTale games of that series too.
I hope so, but from what I've heard, Lucasarts is firmly opposed to DRM-Free gaming, so it seems any of their games on GOG is out of the question for now. (Although that still doesn't explain why most of their adventure games haven't been released on something like Steam)
Glad Tales is on here. I'll get it before the sale is up, nice price, and I want to see it on my GOG shelf. I bought Tales from Telltale originally, so I have it on the disc (which is supposedly DRM free). I think it is. Although I haven't sifted through the registry to find out.

I found out that LucasArts likes to use DRM the hard way. I bought the Special Edition of The Secret of Monkey Island a couple of weeks ago, and it had securom. I spent the next 2 days removing it from my registry and hoping I didn't break my new pc in the process. I just never expected them to have it since it's such an old title and the SE had been out for over a year.

But the original dos version is all over the place. LucasArts must realize that almost every adventure game fan has a copy (one way or another). Why not just let GOG release it and make some money off of it? Unless LA is that "firmly" opposed to drm-free games they won't even put their name near it.

They did release the special editions on steam. They must consider steam drm acceptable.

Since the special editions of the first 2 Monkey Islands are already on steam, I think I would rather see this sight ad the 3rd Monkey Island if I had to choose 1 to be honest. Since I am just getting into these types of games though (i did play the first 2 monkey islands in the early 90's but haven't played any games on the computer until just recently) I have a ton of catching up to do so hopefully by the time I finish most of them part 3 will be up on here.
A pity, a shame. That dumpster, steam, has the special editions of 1 and 2 (which, notably, contain the original games with slightly better graphics and audio). I pirated them the moment they went out, and i am DESPERATELY waiting for a chance to see them here on GOG, so i can BUY them. If it is not DRM-FREE, i am not going to buy anything, ever again.

If the guys don't want my good money from GoG, i am certainly NEVER going to hand it over, through Steam, or ANY steam out there. It's GoG or nothing. I can have their game, but they cannot have my money. Unless they allow GoG to sell their games too, of course.

And the best game in the series, The Curse of Monkey Island (3), is simply unplayable from XP systems onwards. It still has no remake.

Damn, this would have been one of my no-brainer, instant, whole series purchase. I have the free time to play them, i have the URGE and NEED to buy them, most importantly, i have the spare money to throw for getting them, but my money being spare is one thing, and them going to waste is totally another. Only buying them from here, period. WHEN and IF they arrive. But i will be waiting for them. Already bought the new Monkey Island here, full price, too.

You revive a 2012 thread for that?

Anyway the retail copy of Monkey Island 1 & 2 SE has only minimal DRM (DVD check) and the third game is supported on ScummVM and playable on newer Windows.

Also have you seen this?

Hey, thanks! Will try the ScummVM, because back in the day, i owned the 3d game legit (still do). About the others, though, little drm is not drm-free! Until GoG brings them, then...

Sorry for necromancing, i simply did not check the date, only the fact that it was on the front page of threads (relatively recent)...
