The main forums for this game talk about how the stone warden class and the expansion dont work when not connected to the internet. Due to validation issues.

Being as this is a separate version for GoG is this still the case?

Can anyone play the gog version of the expansion offline? As well as the stone warden?

Will test on steam when I get home. Anyone with the gog version willing to check this for me?

Not sure if I will buy the gog version if this is the case.

I don't recall anyone saying that the expansion didn't work offline just a donation bonus of the item vault which was a way for you to store items in the cloud to transfer between charecters in the game but Dark God has since released a patch for the GOG version that allows for a offline item vault as for the Stone warden class I can't comment since I haven't unlocked them yet.

The GOG version counts as a donation as you can easily register both keys on your online profile.

Before the patch we received today, the Item Vault was a feature you received while being connected to the net...and after you successfully took over a fortress with level 14-18 creatures within.

Installing the expansion prompted a galaxy error message wich asked for a log submission wich i did. This however didnt affect the game apparently since it loaded fine.
Does the game or expansion have any galaxy features even if in testing? seems odd for a single player game.
Ok, let me explain.

If the gog version counts as a donation version, then as per donatilns with the regular game you should get the Stone Warden class. This clasa is a dwarf only class that does not need to be unlocked. It is unique to paid versions of the game

However, it requires validation from the main servers. Which is notoriously buggy when switching to offline mode.

The expansion is said to be the same way.

To clarify, if I activate the expansions and such on my account, and turn off the internet, would the stone warden and expansion be available?
I have never made an account on their site, let alone entered serials or did any kind of validation, so there is no way it has a clue about me. I've just installed base game + the xpac + vault patch, stone warden was available/works without validation, so does doombringer.

Also, manually starting the game didn't trigger galaxy, clicking launch on gog installer after patching did, I thought it was just a hidden side effect of me having galaxy due to AvP that triggered erroneously, so didn't give it much thought. It did throw some error to me too.

So unless galaxy did some weird 'activation' that I'm unaware of, it does not require validation. And extra classes definitely work with unplugged net either way.

Why would the expansion require a online validation on a site that is DRM Free? Seriously who are the geniuses who been saying that the expansion needed to be online for verification? Actually don't answer that since I can guess it's the same ones who thought that Desktop Dungeons had locked out content online DRM because it had a log in feature for optional cloud saves.. because I bet dollars to donuts they only came to this brillant conclusion because they saw a serial code, that the installer would crash after installing the DLC with a GOG Galaxy error message and that the game asks you if you want to log in and combined with it being pointed out that you couldn't access the cloud based item storage system lead to the overrating types to start going"omg, there is a online activation DRM in this game and we can't access the expansion with out it being verified" despite the fact if that was the case IT WOULDN''T BE HERE.. The only purpose of registering the expansion was to have it count as donation credit on your ToME account which nets you some more slots in the cloud based item store room and some site credit for other stuff like buying a extra copy of the DLC from the dev and getting a copy of it added on your steam account.

Gog's version always had the Stone Warden and expansion pack available offline. With the patch, you can now use the item vault also offline. You don't need to sign up an account or be online.

To use the item vault offline, you do need to start a new character though, unless my save file was buggy before.

To clarify my previous reply to you. With gog's version you don't need to validate the game by signing in to get access to the Stone Warden etc. I only signed into the account when I was testing the Item Vault before the developer allowed offline use.
