I've never used DgVoodoo2 so...any help would be appreciated.

I outlined how to do this in my steam guide but I might change up the steps to make them a bit easier to follow.

- Download DgVoodoo2 from here. Once you've extracted the archive, you'll want to take dgVoodooCpl.exe, and all the .dll files under MS/x86 (D3D8, D3D9, D3DImm, DDraw) and put them in the Take No Prisoners installation folder.
- Run dgVoodooCpl.exe, click the DirectX tab and set the Videocard to GeForce 9800 GT and VRAM to 1024 MB.
- If you right click > click Show all sections, then go to the GeneralExt tab, change Bit depth under Desktop properties to 16. This will stop TNP giving you a 256 colours warning each time you run the game.
- In the game folder, open userdef.cfg and add the line vid_setmodebydesc "D3D 1920x1440x16" at the bottom. If your desktop resolution is 1920x1080 then use "D3D 1680x1050x16" instead. This appears to be the maximum D3D resolution TNP supports, but it is not listed in the resolution options.
- When running the game, under Graphics, set Blit Overlays to "ON" since the filtered HUD looks awful. I think the pixel art works better anyway.

Be warned that Alt-Tab will crash the game if you use DgVoodoo2, so bear that in mind when playing. I haven't yet found a workaround for this, even if I force the game in borderless windowed mode.
Anyway, hope this helps! ^^ Let me know if you need any further help.

Well, your solution works for me.

I actually have no problems with Alt+Tab, just Alt+Tab, Windows key + D, and then I can restore the game session again without problems. On my girlfriend's laptop, I have to press the Pause key on the keyboard before all of these combinations, or a dark screen will appear when restoring the window.

I think the issue is that the game is not able to automatically pause when minimizing even when configured to do so, and that's where the issue comes from. All this with dgvoodoo 2 running.

Again, thank you very much for the tutorial and the config.

That was very helpful. An update: the link you posted is broken now. The current version is v2.83 and TNP crashes with it. The oldest version that the link still works is v2.82, and that one works with the default options:
