I know the higher resolutions cause the ship to spin uncontrollably when spawning for the first time, and i know a quick alt-tab can usually fix the problem, but i was wondering if anyone

a) cared enough about this game to come up with a proper fix?

b) found any combination of dgvoodoo or other wrapper that stops this happening?

I wish I had the coding knowledge to go in and patch it up so it didnt spin any more - because this game looks soooo much better in higher resolutions
I'll take that as a 'No' then :) :) :)

That's usually an issue with the rudder, I remember there was an easy fix but I can't remember exactly what. Try disabling the mouse for flight or disable the rudder altogether in the options.
Old post, but it might help someone.

Try using this: https://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide
The default settings worked for me.
But I had to change tachyon.cfg to contain 'HW_TYPE=1' and 'USE_HARDWARE=1' in the [VIDEO] section.

I'm playing the game on a Windows 98 Retro PC and works really well. T16000M also work.

I never had this spinning problem, but it could be an issue with the PC being too fast. Try enabling V-Sync in your Nvidia driver.
