Really missing a manual, specifically for the cyberspace portions.
Not sure what I am supposed to shoot, what I am supposed to bump into?
Get the goodies pack, it's in there, along with a bunch of other stuff like concepts for some toy figurines that I'm drooling over!

Anyway, I don't know why they put the manual for the game in a pack that (I think) is only available for a limited time. It should've been included with the game.

From what I recall of the original, this new one is more extensive but I'm finding the Power Outages etc section useless. It doesn't work the way it says it does (see my post)
The goodie pack doesn't even seem to be released yet!?!

I just visited https://www.gog.com/en/game/system_shock_goodie_pack

and this here is a screen capture of the website:

Oh, wait, the goodie pack was only available until June 2nd, 3pm UTC

WTF??????

I received an email by GOG that the goodie pack would be available until 06 June, 5 p.m. German time.
So where is it...?

Apparently the steam version comes along with a manual.
Very disappointing to be honest.

Let´s hope they will offer the goodie pack to regular buyers and clients who pre-ordered the game....

Yeah that's insane, I just bought the darn gamee 10 minutes ago and had no idea this "Goodie Bag" was such a limited time deal. Never once got any email or notification. That seems incredibly dumb.

Well anyone want to share their goodie bag? lol
I bought this game on launch, so it's frustrating to feel screwed by this.

I'm also seeing a "notify me" and not able to download it.

Can someone who was able to access it at least upload the manual? Making it an extra is idiotic.
It would be madness for GOG to make the manual limited time only.

Time to contact Support.
I contacted support yesterday, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Here's what I wrote to them:

Hi! I've purchased System Shock Remake (https://www.gog.com/game/system_shock) yesterday, and realized that unlike the version on Steam, it doesn't even come with a manual. The manual was apparently released as part of the free Goodie Pack (https://www.gog.com/en/game/system_shock_goodie_pack), but which is not available anymore. Is there still a way to get access to the manual, or would it be best to just refund the GOG version and buy it on Steam?

Oh, and I shared with them the screenshot of the Goodie Pack page:

Not sure if this attachment will work (and it is in German), but this image was sent by GOG via mail on 30/05 and clearly stated 06/06 5 p.m. So I did not not feel any rush to get it and wanted to download it on the weekend... was not aware that the manual was only included there until yesterday when it was too late. And it still does not make sense: If there is a manual, then this should not be a "goodie", bonus or later maybe even a paid content, but part of the release, especially if other platforms include it.

Of course, this does not change the fact, that the game itself is brilliant and the manual is not necessarily needed to finish or enjoy the game. It´s more about treating customers differently even though they bought the same product for the same price (or even more, considering the availability of cheaper keys for the Steam platform).

You should see the manal though - it is a goodie!

47 MB and it is artwork presented as a manual for TriOptimum employees and stuff more than an actual player guide.

EG :"TriOptimum Employee Non-Disclosure Agreement" / "Confidiential Information" / "Breach of Agreement" and procedures / etc.

There is a single page of actual control information for the player and some pages are listing items and weapons in the game but thats like 5% of the whole content...

Definitively not required to play the game.
I'm going to somewhat disagree with the last two comments and say including the manual absolutely is necessary to fully enjoy the experience, unless they put heavy tutorial segments into the game itself like most modern games. This is especially important for a "hardcore" retro game like System Shock. A lot of people talk up how much more difficult games used to be and how they didn't hand-hold the player like today, forgetting that these things shipped with massively detailed instruction books that explained a lot of what the game itself didn't. (they were good toilet reading material)

An example of something I would like explained better is the Security Level mechanic. It's obvious from the game messages that "destroy cameras security level go down" but check out how much is described in the original System Shock manual. (you can find the PDF online - not sure if it's allowed to be linked here so I won't): "Furthermore, SHODAN (the Sentient Hyper-Optimised Data Access Network) is able to restrict security access to elevators, doors and controls. Some of these locks can be broken in cyberspace or by rewiring lock mechanisms. There might even be some benefit to destroying computer nodes and security cameras." ... "Disable any cameras you see — most anything will work, even hand-to-hand weapons. Likewise, take out any computer nodes you find. This reduces SHODAN’s ability to control security onboard the station and is critical to advancing in the game."

I strongly recommend reading background story info in the original manual too. Another cool thing it had was a communication log between Rebecca Lansing and another TriOp official talking about you - the Hacker - and how they think you can save Citadel. OTOH that's more information than the Hacker would be expected to have so maybe read it later.

In the case of this remake, based on zavenous's comment it does sound like they added a bunch more story fluff to the manual - so much that it's not a "manual" per se, so perhaps it is more of a Goodie after all.

I tried to attached it here (version from the Goodie Pack), but it doesn’t work, sorry!
It seems only pictures are here working.

But i can deliver the whole Goodie Pack.
Why not, because it is/was free, or not?

You will want to get the 46MB high-quality PDF version (not "PDF with text"):

There's also a link to the entire Goodie Pack in a different Thread:

I think they finally listened to our complains ^_^
