Am I the only one who think that, after a while, the midi soundtrack starts to become annoying? I was wondering wether there's or not a mod like Brutal DOOM for System Shock EE that adds a real soundtrack. And by real I mean something that sounds good, not like an old crappy keyboard. Don't get me wrong, I love SS's soundtrack, I just can't stand the MIDI sounds, it would be really cool to have an actual Techno remake of the original soundtrack, like it has been done with DOOM's for Brutal DOOM
Try this first. It improved the sound of midi soundtrack dramatically for me.

Gotta give it a try. From what I heard in a YouTube demo, it does sound better with Microsoft's MIDI Synth rather than Coolsoft's. Probably the guy was using a poor soundfont. Plus, I read on the thread you posted that choosing another MIDI mapper on W10 is a pain in the ass...
Edit: I think I'll stick with the soundtrack that comes from the Enhanced Edition
Edit: I forgot to thank you for your reply, sorry for that... Where did my manners go?!?

The coolsoft software should actually do the work of selecting default midi synth for you, just install it and play around with the options. Feel free to ask questions, but I think most common ones should be discussed somewhere in the topic I linked

Unfortunately Coolsoft MIDI Synth leads System Shock to crash anytime I try to play the intro, start a new game or load a previous one.

Oh right, happened to me too. Here you go. Should be fine now.

Great! Now the game runs but there's no music playing in the background. It's still a step forward though
False alarm, I made a silly mistake: forgot to set the audio output device. Thank you Fenixp, I've really appreciated your help
