voodoo47: ss2tool 5.1 is out. everybody is advised to update.
Can you comment on how v5.1 affects installing the previously recommended mods now? I'm alittle confused on some of the version notes, specifically:

-removed new sky DML settings from misdml/earth.mis.dml
-enabled weather effects in cam.cfg: fogging 1, enhanced_sky 1, render_weather 1
-Mods get loaded via mod_path in cam_mod.ini (see install.cfg comments)

I'm guessing that means you don't need the special install procedure for dynamic sky, but I'm unclear about some of the other stuff.

the_atm: So I just got System shock 2 and some mods but I'm not sure how to put the mods into the game, the Mods I've got are in Winrar zip files so I'm a tad bit confused... I've tried following the information but to no avail... any help? The one I want to add is just a render I guess... they are compatable with the GOG version as well.
You read the "Installing Mods" section of the OP? Which mod specifically are you trying to install?

no change for the end user (these are only of interest for modders. that reminds me, I will probably have to update the dynamic sky to be fully compatible).

there is a small mod guide in the first post, including pictures.

It's time to rejoice with the Many
Also, is Bloom new to the 5.1 version? Because I can't recall having seen it earlier. Looks really good tbh
it's now enabled by default (can uncheck it when using the tool, see game features).
That explains why I never saw it earlier
Know what we really need now?

For an offline install of v5.1 where are the OpenAL DLLs stored? Thanks!
if it's not available here, I suggest you ask Kolya directly (guest posting is allowed on systemshock.org).

They're included in the SS2Tool executable. And yes, they are the same latest version that's stickied here.
Uh, this was awkard. All the time I believed I placed the mod files correctly and thought I had a wonderful looking game.
Turned out I placed some of the files wrong but today after I did a reinstall I somehow managed to place them where they should be and now the game looks even better!

I feel so ashamed.

Thank you for the update! I appreciate the effort you have put into this great tool.
Hey Voodoo47, thanks for the data and your work :-)

You should add the links to the google docs mirrors to the first post. GOG published (uploaded?) them in the news post at http://www.gog.com/news/mod_spotlight_system_shock_2
Don't download the mod where you can see earth. This will destroy the immersion;

Remember, Tau Ceti V is 67 trilion miles away from earth ;)

There is no mod that adds earth to the VB or Rickenbacker skybox.
