I just finished the laser mission, started the virus mission and am on level 6. Soon as I enter the cyberspace on that level I get killed almost instantly. My weapons do not seem to damage that orange thing. Is is something I'm doing, or should I just leave it for now and come back later?

Which version of your pulser sotware are you using?
If you can manage to evade the first attacks by some evasion, turn around and grab the pulser version 6. This software is in the same room where you enter cyberspace, right behind you. This should give you an advantage.

The next large room in cyberspace then also has a better shield software.

Are you aware that you can move forward faster with 's'? I usually whip my view to a side and burst away when I enter cyberspace to avoid initial damage.

And done! I was, ah, firing drill software at those monsters instead of pulsar.

2 objects with blue ice shield that my drill can't penetrate. I'll come back for those later.
